Step Into The Dollhouse With Medollic
Hello Nimrods! Today I am in pure bliss! Slept in on a great looking Saturday and sat outside drinking my homemade Verona coffee from Starbucks jamming out to a great new band I recently had the pleasure to meet named Medollic. Making you jealous yet? Well you will be once you get to know Medollic as I have gotten to know them.
A couple of days ago I was fortunate to notice a band was following me on Twitter and I was intrigued enough to visit their website medollic.com. My life has not been the same since! From the first strums on "Black Begins" I was hooked. It was as if my whole life I had been in a deep slumber and the power of Medollic finally woke me up. In midst the rush I experienced I was inclined to let them know how I was instantly addicted to their vibe. Little did I know, I would get a response and start going down a rabbit hole that would take me on an adventure that in honor of Tim Burton I will call , Nimrod God in Medollicland. One thing led to another, and before I knew it, Medollic front-woman Lix Bacskay along with bandmate and producer James North privileged me with a pre-release copy of Medollic's upcoming debut album "Dollhouse".
After first listen to their clean-cut sound, there was no doubt that Medollic, a band from Australia/New Zealand had mastered the equation that most musicians nowadays miss entirely. With strong vocals from Bacskay, along with North's extensive experience as a producer, and Steve Pope on drums the result is a blend of music that is both simple yet powerful, artistic yet edgy. "Dollhouse" being a carefully crafted album that artfully borders between Rock, Folk and Pop, "Medollic is one of those rare equations that’s as much about chemistry as it is mathematics." While comparing Medollic to any other better known bands would be injustice to the amazing work this band has produced, new Medollic fans will find an odd sense of familiarity. Think of their music as an old friend you never knew you had but once reunited you never want to let go. Personally I attribute this to the fact that Medollic is, to quote James, "the story of a bunch of experienced people who are great friends getting together to make a kick arse album". Well said!
Lix is a largely self-taught musician that describes herself as "a girl with a guitar and a vivid imagination" who grew up in rural Nelson, New Zealand, which she compares to "somewhere akin to her own private universe". This allowed her to find a special sense of artistry away from the pressures to confirm to the latest industry trends. Lix is also a professional artist and designs album artwork for artists and bands all around the world.
James as a producer who opened his own recording studio at the age of 23 has worked with musicians and artists from Australasia, Japan, Europe and the USA, draws his production influences from across all genres.
Steve runs a drum tuition studio in Brisbane teaching around 50 students a week when he is not rocking out with Medollic. He began his drumming career bashing on cardboard boxes and Milo tin lids with high school friends.
With Steve having played with recording artist Kate Miller-Heidke and notable rock outfits Bulldozer and Transport, and James having toured Australia as a session guitarist for local and international bands before joining Medollic, they immediately felt a connection with Lix's music and artistic views. The rest is history!
"Dollhouse" will be available as a digital download at medollic.com or soon through iTunes, and as limited edition physical CD's that will also be available through the band's website. Both the limited edition cd and digital album pre-sale purchases are expected to start sometime this week. You can preview tracks on Their website and on their MySpace page. Make sure to follow @Medollic on Twitter for information on when the pre-sales start as well as information on when "Dollhouse" will be available in stores where you live.
The physical CD will be in premium Digipak form with embedded CD Text and will include the signature of each band member as well as your name. By purchasing the Digipak CD, you will also receive membership to the Medollic Entourage. This entitles you to post on the private forums on Medollic.com, signs you up to the newsletter (you can unsubscribe later) and allows for entry into Entourage competitions that will be run.
Personally, while I have a digital copy, I may also order the limited edition CD!

I can't wait for the pre-release this week. I think it has been almost a year since I've gotten more than just a digital download of anything.
Yep, same with me, mostly being a huge Green Day fan I own all of their physical albums, but Medollic releasing a premium limited eddition will make it worthwile again!
