Howdy boys and girls, how was your Halloween last night? Let's hope you didn't get too much of a sugar high, because I got some pretty important news for you all today!
Not only is it another great weekend, it's also the weekend before the big E. And I'm not talking about the Easter holiday either! That's right everyone, Election Day is this coming Tuesday! So since your sobered up from partying, I want to share a message with you! So listen up all you Nimrods! Green Day have sent out emails encouraging America to vote! The guys are quoted as saying, "This Tuesday we will elect the next President of the United States. The result will have great consequences for the nation. This election offers a choice between two men with dramatically different visions of the future. We have strong feelings about this choice. But we feel even more strongly that all Americans, regardless of political preference, have a stake in the outcome and should vote in this critical election. This is likely to be a close election. Your vote matters. Please use it and make a difference." To get alerts from our beloved trio, sign up right here. And the guys could not be more right than they are now...well they pretty much are all the time, but now more than ever. We're depending on every single vote, so make sure you make your way to the polls and make your voice be heard! Comment Here |

Good evening fellow goblins and ghouls!
When the clock strikes midnight, the darkest day of them all will take place. After you're done trick or treating, be sure to check out these uber scary favorite movies from death's golden child, Amy Lee. You can read this article here. You'll be turning on every light in your house, or hiding under your bed when you find out what her top five happen to be. She also gives a description as to why she enjoys these blood curling, terrifying films: Nightmare Before Christmas- I have to watch this movie at Halloween, and the fact that I get to be apart of it, as an uber-fan is great. I watch this movie with my family every year. When this movie came out, it inspired me creatively. I was a big art nerd. Halloween- You have to watch this movie, and the original is the one to watch. I've been watching this movie for so long and I have so many memories of being scared. Also, with the older movies you feel like you're in another time. I like the new one a lot too, my husband is a giant Mike Myers fan and even he liked it. Carrie- This is such a great one. I just love seeing the downtroddden get revenge like that. And Sissy Spacek's a great actress in this movie. Psycho- And then the Alred Hitchcock movies. 'Psycho' is especially scary. It still creeps me out and it's very old. I didn't see the new one. The Birds- This is one of the first scary movies I was allowed to watch. It was really scary when I was young, and it's still scary now, in a non-gore way. It's very subtle. Not scary enough for you? Be sure to check out our haunted forum and our Nimrod Radio for a spookacular good time! We're sure it'll make you scream like a little girl! And just to put you in the mood, here's a great take on the Halloween theme song: From all of us at Nimrod Street, we want to wish you the happiest and safest Halloween of 2008! We hope you can also celebrate with us by sharing any pictures, or memories. Enjoy it! Comment Here |

Hello everyone, how's your week going so far?
Hopefully it's going accordingly! We're happy to say that our little site here turned a whole year old yesterday. Thanks to all those who wished us a happy one here and on Myspace, plus anyone who supports us, we couldn't have done it without you! Getting on with the current music news, which I know you're all wanting some! RollingStone.com has published an article on legendary band, AC/DC. Their current album, which is sold through Wal-Mart, has topped 29 World Charts globally! Big kudos to them!! Sadly, Argentina has prevented this mega album to reach a number 30 on the charts, due to the fact that it came in at number 2 for the Latin country. But no biggie, because in total "Black Ice" has sold a whopping 780,000 copies in just the United States alone. Five-Million copies have shipped worldwide, needless to say, the rock and rollers are having one hell of a year indeed! On top of having a successful album, the band has started touring on October 28, 2008 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. You can read this article right here. So if you haven't already, pick up a copy and attend a show or two. It does sound spectacular! So there you have it, updated music news. Have a great weekend, and enjoy the rest of your day! |

Hello everyone out there in Nimrod world!
Spin.com has made a new feature which they like to call, "Hey, Look at Me!" They compiled a short list of celebrities, who in the past week, appear to have the healthiest and strongest self-esteem. Green Day came in last at number 4 since in the last week the busy trio has been in the studio with their current producer, Butch Vig. The punk band is following up to their mega successful, American Idiot from 2004. The article mentions the release of You Tube videos the band has teased their fans with. Other artists mentioned are: - Rufus Wainwright
- Morrissey
- Cee-lo
The above musicians during this last week have all accomplished quite a bit: Rufus Wainwright has explained the instrumental arrangement for his upcoming album next July. He is quoted as saying, "It's an opportunity to have this slight moment of intimacy with me, which I know everybody wants." Morriessey has spilled the beans about his new book and also discussed his efforts for his new album out next February. The singer describes the sound as, "Fantastically Strong." And finally, Cee-lo spoke about Gnarls Barkley's album on its way. It also features four versions of the song, "Who's Gonna Save My Soul?" It's about soul singer, James Brown from an admirer's perspective. It'll make its way to record store shelves on November 11, 2008. These are the happenings for last week, hope you are all caught up now. Hope you all have a great day, enjoy it! |

Good Monday morning, how's everyone doing today? Well hope you all had a great weekend, and are looking forward to starting a brand new week! Got some fresh music news for you as promised!
Spin.com has published an article interviewing Evanescence's lead singer, Amy Lee. The rock singer answers everything from the longevity of the goth rock band, to Lee's dream of writing scores for movies. But what may surprise you is, her possible solo project. She's quoted as saying, " I need to show that I'm more than a one trick pony. I'm writing here at the house by myself and it's been really good. But I'd like to do something really different next. The new songs are definitly different. I feel like I'm going back to my really old roots. They have more folky and Celtic influence than ever before. And it's not all sad, it's nothing I would categorize as Evanescence." As we have been telling you guys before, Amy worked on the soundtrack to "Nightmare Before Christmas." This was more than just composing just any random song for a film, she refers to the movie as her " number one influence." Lee says, " The Nightmare Before Christmas is my number one biggest influence artistically in every way. When I was young, I literally would sit in my bedroom singing 'Sally's Song,' or in the car driving to school. The best part about it, was I had no restrictions or direction or anything. I picked the producer, who's a friend and we just made the song however we wanted together. We recorded the song three months ago in Fort Worth, Tx." Although she never really clarified whether or not the band would release another album, I do suggest you check out their previous works. Evanescence's last album was in 2006 and was called, The Open Door. It was the follow up to 2003's Fallen! Now if you're an even bigger fan, you can find their hard to find rarities here. If her solo work is truly official, we'll let you know all the details. I myself am super excited to hear anything from this very talented artist! Comment Here |
