Image Hiya Nimrods, as promised we officially have the scans that everyone has been talking about, and we are very excited to bring them to you!

Green Day have come in at number 82 on AP's Most Anticipated Albums Of 2009 as you can see from this scan here. I know they can be a little hard to read, but let me tell you, it's well worth it. The name of their article is called: Heart,Soul & A Killer Tattoo.

Talking about what they have in store for this new era coming up, Billie speaks very confidently, "There's nothing to prove anymore; we're just trying to show we have this spirit that rock n' roll can change lives, and it really is a religious experience that means something to us. It's more about faith now."  The mega music magazine got a first listen to the brand new album. Armstrong also adds,"Whether it's the biggest Marshall attack sound or the most transistor-radio sound, everything on this record serves a purpose."

The guys started to talk about their upcoming project as soon as 2006, bass player Mike Dirnt shares, "It always amazes me how quickly it happens. You're sitting around one day and you're like, 'I'm unemployed? This is bullshit.'" You call up the other guys and you're like, 'Hey you want a job?' We came back in pretty quick, but we tried to remember not to hit ourselves so hard over the head with too much work." The guys were soon mixing ingredients for the best music they've ever cooked up.

Here's an inside peek at some songs they already have planned, the article also explains the meaning of them. The record will feature 3 acts. However, AP only displays two in the scans.

Heroes And Cons for Act 1 which will feature songs such as,

  • "21st Century Breakdown"
  • "Know You're Enemy"
  •  "Viva La Gloria"
  • "Before The Lobotomy"
  • "Christian's Inferno"
  • "Last Night On Earth"

Charlatans And Saints for Act 2

  • "March Of The Dogs"

You may be wondering what is with the kooky names right? Well Armstrong and Cool both attended a Christian friend's baby dedication. The sermon inspired the song, "March Of The Dogs" which is about being an outsider in the church, and it's a 'scathing attack' on religion itself.

The chairman for Warner Brothers and CEO Tom Walley speaks very positively about Billie's brave songwriting, "Billie clearly continues to want to provoke and challenge the world as it exists, but with this album, he's also challenging himself more than ever before."

As for the other tune, "21st Century Breakdown," there's a lyric that goes, "Tells us a story that's by candlelight/Waging a war losing the fight." Pretty catchy eh? Tre Cool adds his own two cents too, "Sometimes we'll look at each other when we're talking about these songs and be, 'WHOA-what are people gonna think about that?' Who knows, though-you know what I mean? Let's see, let's shake some shit up-that's all you can do."

The album, not yet titled, is expected to be released sometime in Spring 2009. We'll have all the info waiting for you as well. I'd like to thank Resident Nimrod, Parinaz for supplying us with the scans. By the way, to see the full set of scans, click on the comment link below.

Image Hey everyone what's going on?

AP Magazine has finally done an interview with Billie Joe, I know you've all been really exciting to read it. SO here we go!!!

The music mag was granted access to a Hollywood studio where Green Day have been hard at work on their follow up album to American Idiot. This is the first of a two-part web super exclusive, and our guy Billie Joe discusses working with producer, Butch Vig, stereotypes and much much more!

When asked about what their main idea musically for the upcoming record was, Armstrong replied, "You know, I really like fucking with arrangements, and I always try to look at the possibilities of how you write power-pop music. You know, it's like, how do you take something--and it could be anything from the Creation and The Who to the Beatles to Cheap Trick to the Jam--and try to expand on the idea of what is suppose to be three--chord mayhem? And how do you do it in a way where the arrangements are just unpredictable? So I'm pushing myself to be progressive in songwriting and being a songwriter. I come from a culture where I'm into great albums, and I still believe in that. I'm not saying for it this hard every time--there might be times when I want to have something that's a little bit more spontaneous and the off cuff--but with this record, the feeling's been that you've got to just go with it."

That's wicked awesome, now we did mention chatting about Butch Vig earlier in the article. Our guy let's us know it was all good, "I think he's got a lot of integrity and a lot of class, and one of the things I really respect about Butch is that he doesn't just go for things that are going to be million--sellers, or something that's gonna be massive for the sake of being massive, or is going to look flashy on his resume or something. He works with a lot of different types of bands, and it could be a platinum band, or it could be more of a garage band. And he's got a lot of history of that. I feel like we kind of come from the same place, where he started in Wisconsin in kind of a garage-y atmosphere and working with bands at Smart Studios, and you know, we made our first record for $700. He totally understand that, And he doesn't take it for granted what we have here."

Wow, sounds like they had a great time wouldn't you say so? One of the questions was about rock star stereotypes, AP got the scoop on the rocker's opinion about this on going situation. Billie says,"I don't know--having a family is a learning process for me too. I happen to have a really patient wife, and she's really cool, and she's a really politically conscious person, especially with environmental issues, and I think she has some sort of fear of the end of the world that's naturally embedded into her. And sometimes I think that she may have married the end of the world. So I don't know, hopefully between the two of us we can raise a family together and lean on each other."

Cool beans! There ya have it folks, for more on the interview click on AP's website here. Now like I said, we will have the scans about the album up shortly. I can't wait to share with all of you!!! I would also like to thank our Resident Nimrod, Parinaz for the news! Don't miss out on pre-ordering this exclusive issue for just $5.00 on their website.

Image Howdy everyone how are you?

Ultimate Guitar has published an article listing possible rockers to replace Sublime's former lead singer, Bradley Nowell. I bet you all are just absolutley dying to know.

The list included: Ras-1 from Long Beach Dub All Stars, Ian McKaye from Fugazi and Minor Threat, Dexter Holland from The Offspring, Jim Lindberg from Pennywise, and of course Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day. Oh whoa, imagine that eh?

For Armstrong, the article says the idea has been very open, but seems very unlikely due to the fact that he is busy with his own band. Which in case you haven't figured it out yet, have an album due out next year as well as a world wide tour.

One of the living members, Floyd "Bud" Gaugh, said he had some people in mind to fill the big gap. But he didn't want to begin "revealing anyone's name." So instead, Distorted Magazine went ahead and gave some ideas of their own.

Now it's obviously not set in stone, so do take it with a grain of salt. You can read the article for yourself here. What are your thoughts about this situation? I think it'd be cool to have either Billie Joe or Dexter Holland as their new lead singer, but that's just my opinion.

Image Hello world how was your weekend?

Now that we're looking at a new and exciting week, I know some of you guys went and saw "Twilight." It definitely left its box-office mark in the movie industry by grossing in $70.5 million!

If you're unfamiliar with it, just think of it as a more teen version of the flick, "Underworld." The movie is inspired by the series that author, Stephanie Myer wrote. And it's about a teen girl, Bella, who falls for a vampire named, Edward. To me, both give off the feel of a forbidden love, like a modern day, "Romeo And Juliet."

President for domestic distribution for Summit Entertainment is stunned as well, "This certainly exceeds our expectations by a great deal. The fan base was huge." Coming in second place was the always classic, James Bond film, "Quantum Of Solace." The film had the biggest opening for a Bond flick with over $27.4 million! As for Disney, the Miley Cyrus animated motion picture,"Bolt," came in last with just $27 million.

So what may have driven the vampire flick to do so well you may ask? The novel is popular among teenage girls and women, 75 percent of the audience were females under the age of 25 years old. And get this, out of all viewers 45 percent  were adults who also helped generate sales.

The article from the LA Times can be read right here. Speaking of movies, Matt Stone and Trey Parker's first movie ever made long before South Park, Cannibal: The Musical turned 13. I totally suggest you see this movie because it is just awesome and so funny.

To celebrate, fans can now own a new DVD with tons of extras such as: two full length commentaries made by Stone and Parker themselves, two in depth interviews with the two creators, never before seen deleted scenes, production skills plus a heck of a lot more. Check the news out on SouthParkStudios.com. Enjoy the start of a new week everyone!

Image Good day Nimrods and happy weekend!

Can you believe it's already the middle of November? We sure can't! But in case you forgot, here's a good reminder of what happened a coupe of years ago today! Read the article right here. I know your little inquisitive Nimrod minds are just buzzing with excitement!

On November 22, 2005 music giants, Tim McGraw, Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Destiny's Child and our lovely Green Day all triumphed at the 33rd Annual American Music Awards. The special event was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. They all won two wonderful, and hard earned trophies for the evening!

This same month in 2000, Tool's former manager, Ted Garner sues members of the band, publishing company, as well as, their coporation. Reason being a breach of contract and fraud.

For some retro news, in 1986 the number one pop hit was "Human" by the English synthpop band, Human League. The song was from their album, Crash.

The Billboard number one hit for 1971 was the late, Isaac Hayes, "Shaft." It went to win the Academy Award for best song, it was also the third top hit to win an Oscar.

And other than our guys winning AMA's, the best news of all was on November 22, 1950 Tina Weymouth of the Talking Heads was born in sunny Coronado, California!

Well boys and girls, hope you learned something important today. Let's hope the next few years in music are happy and eventful!

Image Hello my Nimrod peeps, how is everyone? Hope it's all good!

Enter Music Publishing has published the 150th Issue of Drum! Magazine, one of the biggest issues they've ever made. It also features ten top cover stories from the past fifteen years, that's super cool don't you think?

There is also special coverage from your favorite drummers such as:

  • Sheila E.
  • Travis Barker
  • Chad Smith
  • Carter Beauford
  • Neil Peart
  • Tommy Lee
  • John Dolmayan
  • Lars Ulrich
  • Joey Jordioson

Of course our lovely and beloved drummer, Tre Cool was also on that list. Way to go Tre! A whole 138 pages summarize modern drumming and percussion playing and could be quite possibly be one of the magazine's best features.

The editor of DRUM! also offers his two cents, "hand drumming is the root of all percussion. We're looking for ways to integrate it along with all the styles of music we cover, the gear, lessons and other features of interest to drummers. No other drumming magazine is doing anything like that."

This exciting issue of has already been sold world wide, you can find it in such places as: Barnes and Nobel, music stores and newstands!
