Image Howdy my Nimrod peeps, glad you could join us again! I know  you're going to love what we have in store today.

Street team members may be aware of a new mobile phone contest. By signing up to their phone list,  you could win a pretty cool Green Day prize pack. Along with that, fans will get news + album and tour updates from the rockers delivered straight to their cell phones.

Entering is super easy, just start by registering yourself for the official Green Day street team. After that, you'll see a black banner with a space for you to enter your cell number. You'll need to confirm and activate just by replying to the text message with the letter Y.

Speaking of street team, don't forget to keep posting those 2009 banners anywhere and everywhere. Our guys are going to definitely top this year with their upcoming album and tour. The more points you accumulate, the better your chances are of getting wicked cool prizes in the long run. This mission runs from December 19th, 2008 to February 01st, 2009.

Now for other news in the Green Day world, a new book entitled Ramones: Interviews has just been released on January 5th, 2009. It includes endless amounts of interviews with the band and of course, with their fans. Mike Dirnt is also featured in the book as saying, "My respect has and always will be there for the Ramones, the band that showed me that simple songs and a simple life could make you happy." This book is excellent for anyone interested in the punk rock movement that sparked the influence for all the bands we love today.

Image Hiya Nimrods, how's it going so far in 2009?

As you can tell by our new poll, we're really anticipating 2009 to be the year for music by amazing artists. The DenverPost.com has published an article called, New music you can't wait to hear in 2009!

They've mapped out ten acts with brand new albums, also there is mention of a few release dates. Looking at just a few of the musicians listed, there's a little bit for everyone. Everything from pop, rock and rap! That's pretty awesome since we all have different tastes, here are a few reasons why this year will a great year for music!

The top ten artists on the list are:

  1. U2- "No Line On The Horizon" due March 3
  2. Green Day-still untitled, but should be out sometime between spring/summer
  3. Eminem- "Relapse" due out sometime in the spring
  4. Bruce Springsteen-"Working On A Dream" out on January 27th
  5. Jay-Z-"Blueprint 3" fans can get their hands on this album during the spring
  6. Yeah Yeah Yeahs- album title is still to be announced, but is anticipated to be out sometime in the spring
  7. The Fray-"The Fray" perfect gift for the valentine in your life, it'll debut on February 3rd
  8. Lily Allen-"It's Not Me, It's You" can be found on shelves on February 10th
  9. Kelly Clarkson- no title yet, but can find its way into your CD player on March 17th
  10. 50 Cent-"Before I Self Destruct" can be purchased on February 3rd

While these dates seem promising, do be aware that dates may change for different reasons. Isn't this a great list so far though? Other acts not mentioned but also releasing new music include: Lacuna Coil, My Chemical Romance, Asher Roth, and Dr. Dre!

The best part is, we can definitely look forward to not only hearing about the stars we love, but also seeing them perform in person. I am totally psyched about it, the transition to 2009 is already looking pretty amazing, and will absolutely get better!

Image A whopping big hiya to everyone tonight. How are you doing?

Remember a few days ago we told you all about rock band, Guns 'N Roses supposedly touring? Well turns out Richard Fortus, the band's guitarist, denies that such thing will take place.

Fortus insists he was misquoted when he told the St. Louis paper about their two year long tour kicking off in March, "I never said that Gn'R would be playing St. Louis, nor did I say that we will be doing free shows or that we are starting a two year tour in March! Selective hearing. Never said it!"

His reason for denying comes after him and lead singer, Axl Rose were making jokes about returning to play in Missouri. The paper printed their misleading quotes, and used in the article. Some other sources have claimed that word of a tour sometime in 2009, is still very much true.

This article from RollingStone.com can be read right here. I do suggest that Guns 'N Roses fans keep on the look out for if and when the band decide to head out on the road. Until then, word of a tour is simply just a rumor until later comfirmed!

Image Howdy guys and gals and welcome to Nimrod Street!

Hope everyone had a great time celebrating the new year last night. We celebrated with a cozy night in with you guys. Now let's get back to work on what really matters, the music!

Kelly Clarkson has revealed the cover art for her new single, My Life Would Suck Without You. I do have to say that she looks absolutely stunning, another sign that she's ready to rock the new era in front of her. I know it's going to be quite awesome!

Thankfully it being January, we Clarkson fans don't have to wait much longer for the single to drop. Starting on January 19th, the tune will hit your local radio stations, so be sure to request it often!

Here's a cool article I found about new albums signaling brand new tours. Kelly made the list by coming in at number 9 behind some of rock's greatest acts. I am excited to know what her new music and new style will have to offer. We'll have more information regarding her tour in the coming months.

In case you're wondering, this will be the fourth album the songstress has put out since My December back in 2007. Her other creations include: Thankful and Breakaway. You can find this brand new disc on shelves March 17th, 2009!

Image Hello hello Nimrods!!!

A very Happy New Year 2009 to everyone! It has just struck midnight on our neck of the woods, and we couldn't be more excited.

We're glad 2008 is behind us, even if it had it a few perks here and there. There's just something about a fresh start that really sparks the adrenaline in all of us. It's still hard to believe it will be the end of a decade, but there's always room for whatever the future brings.

I personally think that 2009 is going to be a time for rebirth so to speak. We'll be getting a new president, new music, new movies and a new way to view television. With so much going on, I do think moving forward is going to leave enough room for all of us to explore new heights.

I know we'll all learn a little bit about yourselves along the way. We'd love to hear what your new years resolutions are for the upcoming year. Our little home on the internet wont be fading away anytime soon. Nimrod Street is going to continue to expand and welcome all the changes headed its way. We're very very excited to share it with you!

Here's a cool song and video for everyone to sing, dance and celebrate to. On behalf of the Nimrod Street staff, we'd love to usher in 2009 with you!

Image Hiya Nimrods, how are you doing?

Just thought I'd come back and let you know about more news before the year is completely over with!

So you already know about rock giants Guns N Roses finally releasing their long overdue album. You may be wondering what else do these guys have up their sleeves right?

The band's guitarist, Richard Fortus, confirmed that they'll take their Chinese Democracy spectacular to the open road starting in late March. He's also stated that they'll be touring for a whole two years straight on, but dates and a schedule have not been revealed yet.

Doesn't that sound like a really awesome time kids? If  you haven't gotten their album yet, what are you waiting for? It could possibly be another millennium before we see another one. Order yours here on Amazon.com! You can read the article from Much Music right here

That's it folks, the last piece of music information for the year 2008! We'll be back tomorrow to spend New Year's Eve with everyone. Until then, see you nimrods next year!

Image Hello Nimrod Street! A good rise and shine to everyone!

This year has gone by so fast, in a few days it will be the start of a new one. We all have memorable moments in music, some good and some pretty bad.

With bands like Guns N Roses and AC/Dc releasing albums after years of being silent, it seems even better when you think that the upcoming year will be bringing back a few amazing bands and very promising albums. For a year in review, this article has a little bit of everything. Green Day even got mentioned twice! Aren't you just thrilled?

Mentioned once for Foxboro Hot Tubs as Top Picks For 2008,  when everyone was waiting for the follow up to American Idiot, the guys cranked out cool retro 60's sounds to add to their famous side band list. Also mentioned a second time to watch for in Spring 2009. We can only hope the best for them and wish them all the success in the world!

Some picks for 2008 varied the spectrum from Coldplay's very controversial tune, "Viva La Vida" to ridiculously exposed pop star, Taylor Swift. We can't forget Katy Perry admitting to kissing girls and "liking it," as well as Kanye West's album and...amusing blogs?

Other mentions for 5 To Watch in 2009 are:

Eminem's new creation, "Relapse". The rapper's new  album in a whopping five years.

U2 "No Line On The Horizon". First album since 2004's, "How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb," due out March 2nd.

No Doubt is reuniting their band members and is expected to record new material since their 2001 release.

Bruce Springsteen has a new album starting as early as January! This singer will also perform at the Super Bowl's halftime show in February.

Music fanatics can read the DetroitNews.com article right here. Don't worry guys, it's only going to get better! With the outstanding albums coming out, I doubt it'll be anything but boring.
