Hello Nimrods, how's it going so far?
More Green Day news! The guys have an official street team by the name of The Street Network. You want to support our guys right? Well, there's no doubt that 2009 will be an amazing year for them. The link to the site can be found here. If you're still curious about what exactly a street team does, you're in luck. The link also provides a frequently asked questions, and one of them asks who's qualified to be a member. Basically, anyone and everyone who not only has access to the internet, but also has a deep enthusiastic passion for music. To be apart of a street team, click on their "teams" page and select an artist to support. You'll be asked to fill out an application, and if it is selected, you'll be on your way to making creative fliers and stickers for that particular band. The more activities and missions you do, the more points you'll accumulate. It'll earn you prizes, giveaways and much much more. Now, you're asking if you'll be able to meet the bands. As with the points accumulated, it'll better your chances. Although all of it depends on the band's tour schedule, if they're in your particular town, make sure you let the street team know about it. And I know we all want to meet Green Day right? I sure as hell would kill for that opportunity! Make sure you stay tuned here to get your daily scoop of news. I can hardly stand the wait, next year is going to be super awesome! Comment Here |

Hello everyone what's happening?
If you've been lurking around You Tube, you'll notice that Green Day have revamped their official You Tube channel. It's now coinciding with their new buffed up website. There's even a sweet banner that links to their web! All the videos you love are still there, so do take a moment and subscribe or add them as a friend. You can see this awesome new design here! It has the whole gray and black theme going on, I personally love it! All the band news buzzing around is surely making me excited for 2009! This year will be completely over in a matter of days, so you'll want to get a brand new calendar as soon as you can. Crawling around Amazon, I noticed these super awesome, and affordable 12 month calendars. Enjoy 12 whole months of Green Day. These are perfect to go on your wall aside from all your posters! All Green Day fans can order them here on Amazon.com!! These would be great to mark the album release date, and whenever they tour in your town....and no, there's no official word yet!! Do take full advantage of this mailing list, all the news will be available through your inbox. Don't miss out on that opportunity! In addition to all this, the awesome Mike Dirnt paid a visit to the Copro Nason Gallery in Los Angeles, California. The art exhibition was entitled, The "Good Samaritan's." You can see a picture of Mike here on GreenDay.com. There's also a post and a slide show about the event. Now that we have that out of the way, I hope you have read through the NRDC information we last posted. We cannot afford to lose our wilderness. Kudos to Billie Joe for bringing that to all the fan's attention! Well, speaking of Billie Joe, I hope you all enjoyed reading through the last AP interview. We know you cannot wait until the Green Day year that is 2009! Comment Here |

Hello Nimrods how's it going so far?
The Natural Resource Defense Council, better known as NRDC, has posted a blog on their Myspace. Billie Joe has called everyone's attention about Utah's Redrock Wilderness. He's urging everyone to read another message actor, Robert Redford has posted about the matter. Billie has this to say to everyone, "Will you take a minute to read this message from Robert Redford and then act? Bush is only going to be in office for another month or so, but he can do a lot of damage between now and January 20th. Join me in taking action now to help save our Redrock Wilderness." Very well said Mr. Armstrong! Basically, Redford's message is about registering to oppose the auction of Redrock country that will take place on December 19th, 2008. You can register to fight against this here. Both Billie Joe's and Robert Redford's NRDC message can be read right here. I urge you all to help fight for what's left of our wilderness. Every little bit helps! Comment Here |

Howdy Nimrods, as we've been promising, here's part two of AP's interview with Billie Joe!!
Here are some questions asked about the band in general. This one in particular is about the health of Green Day before American Idiot was made, and whether or not the band had group therapy. It wasn't group therapy--we never had group sessions. It was more about opening up communication with each other a little bit more. We did that on our own, though-- we didn't need a therapist to come in and do that, and fuck that. If it ever comes down to where we needed a therapist, then obviously you know this is just not fun anymore. He was also asked about pop-punk bands that have taken Green Day as an inspiration, and if they see different versions of themselves at all. You know what man? I have no idea. I think we are so adamant about carving out a niche for ourselves and "having our own sound," whatever that means, that I just don't know. I think bands are just part of what you always see: A record will come out that's big, and five to 10 years later there comes a generation of bands that sound like that or are influenced by that. And I think that's what you saw when Dookie came out in 1994. But I think the interesting thing is when you look at what happened on our last album, it's gonna take another five to 10 years for all that stuff, all the young kids got inspired to do something with it. It's kind of crazy, I don't mean this to toot our own horn-but this band, what I think we've been able to do, is inspire people from a couple of different generations, and honestly inspire them with albums that mean something. It's not just this thing where people are going back and liking a record from 20 years ago because it happened to come out when they were a certain age. Drawing different reactions from every generation that discovers Green Day, Billie had some interesting words to say about it. We do. Arguably, there are a lot of people who'll say that 1992's Kerplunk is the best record we ever made. But that's cool, you know what I mean? It's just a lot of different people, a lot of different tastes, a lot of different eras. And last, you may want to know what is motivating the band with this coming record! Nah, you know if that shit happens again, it's awesome. But I'm still in the process of making this record. We'll see what happens. Beyond that, who knows? Well Nimrods, there ya have it!! You can read the AP interview right here. Have a great day! Comment Here |

Hello Nimrods, how has your day been so far?
Joe Satriani has claimed that rock band, Coldplay, has plagiarized his past material. The guitarist accuses them of stealing a riff from the instrumental song, "If I Could Fly" from his 2004 album, "Is There Love In Space?" Lead singer of the group, Chris Martin, and the rest of the band have posted this short, and sweet note on their official website: "With the greatest possible respect to Joe Satriani, we have unfortunately found it necessary to respond to his allegations. If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him. Joe Satriani is a great musician, but he did not write or have any influence on the song Viva La Vida. We respectfully ask him to accept our assurance of this and wish him well with future endeavors." You can read the letter right here. This song is nominated for a Grammy award for song of the year. We wish them the best of luck! I happened to find a video comparing the two songs together. You be the judge of it! Comment Here |
