Hey how is everyone?!!
You may have seen the commercials on TV about fake news giant, Stephen Colbert's holiday television special. The one hour program will feature celebrity guest Jon Stewart, plus many many others. This is also a Myspace/Pay Pal fund raising sweepstakes as you can help fight hunger when you make a bid, even if it's just $5. A "Stephen" or "Colbert" stocking can be yours for just that small price. He's also giving away the sweater he wore from the program. Get this, 100% of the proceeds from the auction will go to Feeding America. This is a cool and fun way to give back to those that really need it this holiday season. Colbert's show will air on Sunday November 23, 2008 at 10pm EST, and is entitled, "A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All!" Entering is easy, all you have to do is log onto Colbertnation.com for full contest rules and other informative details. If that's not enough, the site will have videos produced by the man himself explaining the whole scenario to you. I've still got more juicy stuff for you Nimrods! Stephen is also giving his pretty awesome boots for Giving Works Auction by eBay, "You can literally walk a mile in my shoes, which is more than I've ever done. I have weak ankles." LOL! Funny funny man! The entire press release from Comedy Central can be found here. If you would like to own the DVD, click right here. It's available on Comedy Central's website for $ 19.95! If that's not affordable enough, I don't know what is nowadays. To put you in the mood for the event, and the holidays in general, I found an awesome video. Enjoy! Hark the Herald, Angels Win! |

Howdy Nimrod world, How are you?
Coldplay have been in the headlines lately with their new album, Viva La Vida. They're currently touring the United States and Europe. Not only that, but they won two awards at this year's World Music Awards. So what else could be going on with these guys you may ask? Lead singer, Chris Martin spills the beans about how he thinks the band has made it big so far. He talks to Contactmusic.com about U2 and of course, Green Day, "The reason we're the biggest band in the world at the moment is because the others are on holiday. That's how you get your breaks. That's how the understudy gets its opportunity. While U2 and Green Day are away, we've got to make the most of it." For a man who's been so blessed with massive success, he points out his band will be unnoticeable once U2 and Green Day release their albums next year. Very humble words indeed, but I believe all three bands will share the spotlight equally. Especially since Coldplay's time in the limelight has only just begun. You can read this article right here. And to be honest, I think 2009 will be a great year for music. Can't wait for those tours!! Comment Here |

Hello everyone! Sorry I have not updated, I've been feeling under the weather lately. But I couldn't go another day without telling you guys the good news! We would like to thank one of our Resident Nimrods, Parinaz, for bringing it to our attention.
Take a wild guess who made the cover of Alternative Press Magazine? Green Day of course! They were featured as the mystery front page guest, and also apart of AP's Most Anticipated Albums Of 2009. The guys aren't talking to anyone else, just AP and they'll have a killer interview as an added plus. On the forum, it says the mag will be available on store shelves on December 9th, 2009 . Ironically right on drummer Tre Cool's 36th birthday, but if you go to this link here, it says it will be available starting January 2009. We'll keep you updated on when it will be on sale. For the past few years, the artists to make it onto this prestigious list for 'Most Anticipated' have been: My Chemical Romance in 2006, Motion City Soundtrack in 2007, and Jack's Mannequin for 2008. AP also had a contest for fans to guess who would be featured on the cover. The prizes included: First person to guess correctly would receive a free shirt from the music giant's store! The lucky winner was going to be announced November 17, 2008, but the contest is over now and we could not be happier for the top winner. I'm soo glad that Green Day made next year's cover, they truly deserve it. I have a feeling this coming era will be their very very best. Have a great day everyone!! Comment Here |

Good afternoon Nation! I hope you're all doing great.
Cruising by Green Day's lovely new website, I saw an announcement for their new and improved web store. It is described as "Fresh with a sleek look, just threw some brand new t-shirt designs into the lineup." Wow, sounds awesome doesn't it? They are brought to all of you die-hards by Cinderblock.com! But do however feel great about your purchases, the new shirts are just $20.00. So pick what your heart desires. The store can be viewed at the link here. I'm glad we're hearing more and more from the guys as the months go by, there's no doubt that this is just the beginning of good things to come. There is quite a bit of variety if you're so curious. You can all choose from the featured items, or even grab yourself an oldie since there are Dookie tees as well. All of this is making me excited to see what merchandise the guys will have at their tours. As we said before, the fun stuff begins in 2009 when Green Day releases their new record. Also, don't forget they'll be a world tour coming soon as it is stated on their website here. Stay in touch with us and we'll keep everyone on top of the happenings. Happy shopping! Comment Here |

Hiya Nimrods!
It seems like there's been quite a lot of Green Day news missing lately, but I ran across a list on Rolling Stone's website, and found that Billie Joe named Bono as one of "The 100 Greatest Singers Of All Time." The native Irishman came in at number 32, and he is described in detail by the Oakland rocker as to how and why Bono is the greatest. Armstrong would categorize Bono's voice as "50 percent Guinness, 10 percent cigarettes- and the rest is religion." He also goes on to compare his vocals to legends such as: Joe Strummer, Bob Marley, Otis Redding, Elvis Presly and John Lennon. Billie Joe also gushes about his favorite U2 album, "The Joshua Tree shows the mastery Bono has over his voice and what he learned from punk, New Wave and American musicians like Bob Dylan. In the quiet moments of 'With Or Without You', you can imagine him sitting under the stars. Then, when he comes back to the chorus, all of a sudden it's a hailstorm." Green Day's lead singer also speaks about U2's guitarist, Edge, "A lot of Bono's free-form singing comes from the band's rhythm and the church-bell of the Edge's playing, the way the guitar sings in that delay." It's obvious where Billie got some of his guitar and singing influence from. Remember when the two bands did a duet for Louisiana called, "The Saints Are Coming"? I have to say it had to have been a dream come true for Billie Joe himself! To end, our beloved rocker adds this last bit, "I never had the feeling he was manipulating the power of his voice to show off. They say a submarine never goes in reverse. That's Bono, always looking for a new way of singing or something. That's one thing I learned from him: Never rest. Keep learning and be a good listener. That's the spirit of singing-and he definitely has it." This article can be found right here, along with the other top notch artists that were mentioned. Comment Here |

Hey hey everyone!
Now that Obama has been announced President of the United States, he's not the only one that is creating a stir. Rockers, Coldplay took home the awards for "Rock Act Of The Year" and "World's Top-Selling Act" at the 2008's World Music Awards. The event took place in the little country of Monaco. The quintent is on tour now here in America starting on November 11, 2008, then they will finish in Europe on February 15, 2009. So get your tickets now while they're available! We're sure they are going to sell out super fast. All you Coldplay fans dont' want to miss out on this. Other artists winning big were, Leona Lewis receiving an award for "Best New Artist" and "Female Pop." Amy Whinehouse also got a trophy for "Female Pop/Rock." Kid Rock wasn't left out either, he got the title for "Male Pop." So a big kudos to all this year's big winners! And to top it all off, former Beatle's drummer, Ringo Star accepted the "Diamond Award" on behalf of his band. This rare award is given to few musicians who have sold over 100 millon albums. Amazing! As for artists who performed, Beyonce and Kid Rock supplied the show with their own special entertainment. The article can be found in this link here. What may surprise you about the World Music Awards is, they're chosen solely from world wide sales figures! So it's safe to say that these artists are doing pretty damn good with their sucess, congratulations to all. |
