Foo Fighters Plan "Heavy" Album With Butch Vig
Foo Fighters are heading in to the studio to record their next album as announced by Dave Grohl at the Independent Spirit Awards last Friday night. That's not all, they will also be working with producer extraordinaire, Butch Vig!
This reunion between Vig and Grohl is thanks partly to the fact that it marks the 20th anniversary since Nirvana's "Nevermind", which you guessed it, was also produced by Butch in 1991. “Me and [Foos drummer] Taylor [Hawkins] have already started demoing songs,” Grohl told Rolling Stone.
However, this album will definitely be a little different than its predecessor which was recorded at their cutting edge, Studio 606, which the Fighters own. This new Foo project will be recorded entirely in analog, which means out of Grohl's dandy garage. When asked about the noise complaints from his neighbors, this front-man replied, “We’re doing a test on Monday. I think this could be our heaviest album yet."
This will be the follow up to 2007's, "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" and although the month of September has been tossed around, there's no firm release date as of yet. The new Foo's will also be featuring a documentary celebrating the band's 16 years together, and will take a behind the scenes look at the album's recording process. Dave was inspired to do this by the movie "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" and encouraged everyone at the Independent ceremony to view the film that made him cry. “If I stay another minute, I’m gonna get so fucking drunk, I’ll barf all over myself.”
I have to say that I'm wicked excited for the new Foo album, can't wait for this!
