2012picIt is officially the weekend but do you know what are your plans should be? Why not hit the local theater and watch some cool new movies that were just released?

With a current score of 57 percent "Fresh" on the RottenTomatoes.com comes a flick for the rocker at heart, I'm talking of course about Pirate Radio. It's a tale about how British rock music underwent a revolutionary change in the 1960's thanks to an American DJ portrayed by Philip Seymour Hoffman. In a nutshell, Hoffman revolts and illegally broadcasts his rock records non-stop from a ship in the middle of the ocean much to the dismay of the English media.

This is great for huge fans of "The Who", Cream and The Kinks as it contains a fantastic soundtrack as well as big laughs according to critics. We here at Nimrod Street are super excited to see how one man was able to triumph over such adversity and bring rock music back to the masses.

Now for those of you Nimrods wanting to catch a glimpse of our possible impending doom, check out the sure to be blockbuster of the year, 2012! From the director that brought you "Independence Day", "Godzilla" and "Day After Tomorrow", Robert Emmerich is destroying the Earth once again. John Cusack plays a Science Fiction writer trying desperately to save his family from the catastrophe ancient Mayans predicted would take place on December 21st, 2012.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, the movie will likely have a few flaws giving it a mediocre score of 36 percent but will still deliver with non-stop action and explosions. American Idol contestant, Adam Lambert contributes his talents to the soundtrack with his song, "Time For Miracles".

Other movies due out on limited release are:

  • Fantastic Mr. Fox
  • The Messenger
  • Four Seasons Lodge
  • The Good Soldier
  • The End of Poverty?
  • William Kunstler: Disturbing The Universe
  • Uncertainty
  • Women In Trouble
  • Dare
  • Oh My God
  • Ten9Eight: Shoot For The Moon

Here's a teaser trailer of 2012, hope you all had a happy Friday the 13th everyone!
