Tré Cool (b. Frank Edwin Wright III on December 9, 1972) is the drummer for Green Day. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany but shortly after his family moved back to the states to a little place called Willits in Northern California. He was a really hyper kid and always on the move finding ways to entertain himself.
When he was 11 he was approached by his neighbor Lawrence Livermore (founder of Lookout! Records and musician) to play drums in his band The Lookouts. It was Lawrence that gave Tré his name. Tré agreed and within 3 months was playing drums like a pro, annoying the hell out of his family in the process. About 7 years later The Lookouts broke up and Cool was approached by friends Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt to play drums in their band Green Day while their former drummer was off at college. What was at first a temporary thing then became permanent when the boys realized how well they all worked together. Five years later, after having their first major-label debut Dookie top the charts, Tré and then wife Lisea Lyons gave birth to a baby girl named Ramona (in a tribute to The Ramones). Shortly after that they divorced and somewhere in between 2000-2001 He got remarried to a woman named Claudia and they had a son named Frankito ("little Frank" in Spanish). Currently Tré and Claudia are no longer married, but they still remain great friends. |
