american.pngHey homeslices, hope you're having a happy 4th of July today!

Got some goodies for you all today! We've got a hilarious interview with Tre Cool, a chance for you to win the re-issued copy of "Bullet in a Bible" on Blu-Ray, and some fun with music charts!

The edomontonsun.com recently spoke to Cool about his injured knee, the "Idiot" musical, and the woman that lives inside him? He proves that not only does he own the drums, but also has a great sense of humor to go along with it.

Darryl Sterdan, the interviewer questioned him on the status of his banged up knee:

"Yeah, it's good now, though. It's been rebuilt. I've got a piece of some dead person in me. I do! I've got a piece of a cadaver in there as a replacement."

Cool jokes about this mysterious dead woman, and his strange dreams when asked if this lady rises up during the night, "yeah. I've been having these weird dreams that I'm a schoolteacher in the Midwest. And female. I might have a wo man inside me. More than usual."

Tre also goes into detail about what you can expect for the new tour, "you're in for a big extravaganza. It's like Green Day times 10. I don't want to reveal too much, but the crowd is definitely as much a part of the show as the band."

While discussing audience participation, he also brings up the effect his bandmate, Billie Joe has on their fans, "yeah, he's definitely a showman. A punk rock dictator. He gets up there and the whole crowd-obedience factor goes way up. Everybody's there to have a good time and he's like the scout leader."

So how do these top notch musicians make this tour better than last time? "Write another kickass record and play songs off of it." We're switching it up; we're not doing the same songs we did on the last tour. We're adding songs that people didn't get to hear last time and we haven't played in years. And we're playing the newer stuff- basically mixing from all the records. That's a physical feat in itself, playing all those songs. There's 20-something songs, maybe 30."

Sterdan also points out that Tre does bring some comic relief during any dull moments in the show, "Oh, thanks a lot, dude....Yeah, in this band, our personalities shine through in everything, you know. Even on the recordings, you can definitely hear us as individuals. We are strong personalities, bouncing off each other. And sometimes bouncing off the ceiling."

We all know that this particular record took a whopping 5 or more years to make, was it tough on the trio? You betcha!

"Yeah, but we will serve no wine until its time. There were definitely times when we had so many songs it was overwhelming. And we had no idea even where to begin-we had, like, 40 new songs...but it takes time. You can't just shoot something like that out."

How about that new musical of theirs? What exactly does Tre find especially interesting about this? "Yes, the 'American Idiot' play. It's opening off-off-off-off-Broadway in Berkeley, California. We're keeping it close to home, so we can change things  and make little tweaks. But what we've seen so far, it's mindblowing. The cast is incredible. It's interesting to hear Green Day songs sung by women."

Now, here's a chance for  you to win a Blu-Ray copy of "Bullet in a Bible"!! Watch in amazement as these punks rock Milton Keynes's 130,000 adoring fans! Clashmusic.com has a brief history of the band, followed by a link for you to enter! It's as easy as pie, you'd be one serious American Idiot not to get in on this!

Moving on, we did mention some fun with music charts earlier right? Well, according to the Associated Press's article for "Best Selling Audio", "Breakdown" finds its place on the list several times. These lists will appear in next week's Billboard Magazine!

Our dearly beloved trio have gone gold and come in at number 14 on the Billboard 200's (Top Albums): Top 20! As well as two of their hits on the Alternative/Modern Rock Tracks chart.

Their newest song, "21 Guns" comes in at number six, while the first single to launch from the disc, "Know Your Enemy," takes the eighth spot. Read it all here! Good job guys!

Green Day have officially started their world tour on July 3rd in Seattle, Washington. What a great way to kick off this year's Independence Day! We'll leave you now with a great tune to set the mood!
