New Single Released Today!

Hey Green Day fans know what today is? It's the release of the new single, "Know Your Enemy"! Yes, today April 16th, 2009 the tune will be available through digital download! Pretty freaking awesome!
The track will receive its first radio play on Gerry Ryan's show after the 10am news. This news can be read on RTE's website. Other radio stations playing the song are, XFM between the hours of 9am-12pm. If you're across the globe in London, it'll be on 104.9. For those of you in Manchester, tune into 97.7. Rolling Stone posted an article about Green Day performing surprise shows around Oakland, California. On April 14th, 2009 the guys performed their third and biggest show! The Fox was the best place for them to experiment with theatrical lighting, and arena sound systems really brought the songs to life.
Since these songs are brand new, programs with lyrics were handed out to anyone who wanted to sing along. After playing 70 minutes of new material they rushed off stage, then rushed back on to play another lengthy set of older stuff. Billie Joe said out loud at the start of the third act, "almost only really counts in horseshoes and handgrenades."
Another article from sfgate.com talked about "A Seriously Ambitious Green Day". It too talks about the secret shows, and how the guys are planning a huge surprise for their fans with a new album and a world tour. The site also goes into the newer sounds the punk trio are experimenting with which include: British rock influences like The Beatles and The Who.
Speaking of touring, sfgate states Green Day will be touring in the states beginning in June, then going overseas. Like most of you out there, we cannot wait to see these guys live!

UPDATE: GreenDay.com has posted this bit of news on their site. "Know Your Enemy", the first single off of Green Day’s upcoming album

retailers. You can buy the single at iTunes HERE" Also, they have changed the theme on their website to include imagery to match the new album cover. A very nice touch!
