ImageBorn on February 17, 1972, Billie Joe Armstrong was the youngest of 6 children. In Rodeo, California to Mother Ollie and Father Andrew Armstrong. As a songwriter and member of Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong has become one of the most influential people in punk rock music. Billie Joe was interested in music right from the start and recorded his first song called Look for Love at the age of 5. That was a recording for a local label Fiat Records.

As a child, Armstrong often sang in hospitals, which gave him great experience as well as broadened his musical outlook since he had to sing songs from musicals.First he learned to play the piano and then at the age of 8 he got his first guitar as a present from his father - that was the famous "Blue."At the age of 10, Billie's father died of cancer to the esophagus which spread throughout his body. His mother continued to work at Rod's Hickory Pit. in Vallejo, California, to support herself and her six kids. Billie Joe and Mike later worked there as busboys.

Two years after the death of his father, his mother remarried a man that Billie and his siblings detested. Also, while being 10 years old, he met Mike in the school cafeteria. He wrote his first song, "Why Do You Want Him", a song about his mother and his step father, when he was 12. At the age of 15, Billie, Mike, and a drummer named John formed a punk band and named themselves Sweet Children. One day before his 18th birthday, and halfway through his senior year of high school, Billie dropped out of high school (Pinole Valley High School) to devote all his time to Sweet Children. He knew what he wanted to do -- play music.

In 1990, John left the band to attend college. Billie and Mike were faced with the task of finding a new drummer. They knew the perfect fit, Tre Cool, a Gilman Street veteran, who was then playing in the Lookouts.Sweet Children was later named Green Day. Their first tour bus was made by Tre's dad, and just happened to be a bookmobile. The band stayed in fans houses after their gigs due to the fact of having very little money.

While in Minneapolis, Billie met future wife, a girl named Adrienne Nesser. The happy couple married in 1994, and the next day, found out she was pregnant with their first born, Joseph Marcicano Armstrong. September 12, 1998, another boy, Jakob Danger was added to the Armstrong family exactly three years later.
