3eb.pngHey Nimrods, how are you doing?

90's rockers, Third Eye Blind released their fourth full-length album, "Ursa Major" on August 17th, 2009. Originally scheduled to be out in 2007, their latest record was delayed due to singer Stephen Jenkins' writer's block.

Tuffs Daily rated "Ursa Major" a disappointing two and a half stars due to their failure to evolve after so long. Known for their upbeat and bubbly alternative sound, latest singles such as, "Don't Believe a Word", "Why Can't You Be" and "Carnival Barker" all seem to resemble songs from TEB's past albums.

Sure Hard-Core fans may rejoice in knowing that their favorite band hasn't changed a bit, as Tuffs points out "the album is perfectly consistent with everything fans have come to
expect from a Third Eye Blind album, and they have broken their
recording fast in comfortable style"
. Coming off the heels of a six year hiatus, you would think Third Eye Blind would return with a brand new chapter for their music career.

Unfortunately, they have still produced the same batch of music they've always felt comfortable with. Tuffs describes the album as "fantastically well-executed, tightly performed, brilliantly produced and almost totally indistinguishable from any other Third Eye Blind album." Ending the bitter discussion, overall the bottom line "Ursa Major" is "ultimately a letdown".

On the other hand, pipedream.com has mentioned that "Ursa Major" has gotten "favorable reviews" from Rolling Stone, The Washington Post and Billboard Magazine.

Pipe Dream also discusses the guys co-headlining an autumn gig with upcoming hip-hop artist, Kid Cudi at Binghamton University on October 11th. For those of you still enjoying TEB's newest tunes, passes for this event will begin selling Tuesday morning, September 15th for $29 at the door with a $3 dollar Events Center fee. Binghamton students will simply pay a lower $20 dollar price tag with a $2 dollar event fee. Third Eye Blind will also headline the free 10th Annual Bulldog Bash on September 25th in Mississippi, alongside other artists including: Jamie Davis and Soul Gravy, Sterling Y, The Flames, Red Hill City and Z-Flo.

This southern state will also be hosting its first ever text message fundraiser, by texting "NCMISS" to UNITED (864833). Afterwards you'll receive a message asking to donate $5 dollars to the United Way. It's a great way to not only rock out to some awesome music, but to give back to your community. And that's what Nimrod Street is all about! So be sure to spread the word and help out as much as you can!
