getup2010Indie rockers, The Get Up Kids have confirmed two dates in London and Birmingham this coming June. On the 24th the group will play in London's Cameden Underworld and the O2 Academy in Birmingham the following day.

For those of you not familiar with the band, here's a recap for the n00bs! Forming in 1995 they were part of the "second-wave of emo music" in the mid-90's. They played the opening slots for well known's such as Green Day and Weezer before becoming headliners. After touring internationally in Japan and Europe, they eventually went to record four albums.

Only just recently reunited last year after a break up in 2005, The Get Up Kids have influenced Blink-182's, Mark Hoppus and it's apparent in their album "Take Off Your Pants And Jacket" from 2001. Another rocker  influenced by TGUK is Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz. "There should be a How To Be a Pop-Punk Kid starter kit with bands like Get Up Kids, so kids would know whose shoulders bands like us are standing on. Fall Out Boy would not be a band if it were not for The Get Up Kids.”

The Get Up Kid's announced earlier in the year that they would self-release a new four song EP called, "Simple Science". It would be the quintent's first release in a whopping six years and is expected sometime in April.
