Hey there Nimrods, what's the haps?
Baltimore Metal Music Examiner, David Slayton, has posted his review on Lacuna Coil's new record. Their fifth studio album, "Shallow Life", showcases their signature sound against an electronic, hard rock back drop with Arabic influences.
"Survive" opens the disc with a moody melody which evolves into a mix of pounding guitars and catchy vocal work. The ninth track leaves will leave you "Wide Awake" as an acoustic guitar takes center stage. Giving standard rock ballads a run for their money, this tune definitely sticks out the most because of its piano and orchestra arrangements.
Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro offer their male and female vocals in an on and off mode creating a perfect duet throughout the album. Not many bands can pull off having two vocalists, a task that seems to be difficult proves to be very easy for Lacuna.
You may enjoy this record if you're fans of Evanescence, Nine Inch Nails and Stabbing Westward.
The group will embark on the American "Spellbound" tour starting this summer in July with supporting bands: Kill Hannah, Seventh Void, and Dommin. Check out their website for more information!
Their second single, "I Like It" now has an official video! Their sense of humor shines through making this quite different than any other video they've previously done. I gotta say it's pretty awesome!
Enjoy!
Have a great week homeslices!
