Howdy peeps, how's your day going so far? Ready for a brand spankin' new week?
Trent Reznor from super rock band, Nine Inch Nails, has been recognized by several government branches in New York for his efforts in leading a campaign to raise money for a fan needing a heart transplant.
New York Senator Charles Shumer and Governor David Patterson, have written a letter thanking the musician for raising about a million dollars to aid in medical bills.
For the NIN and Jane's Addiction tour, ticket packages gave admirers access to meeting both bands before their gigs. All proceeds went straight into helping out Nevada fan, Eric De La Cruz!
Reznor received his honors at a meet-and-greet in Wantagh, New York on June 6th, 2009 by Mike Caplice, a huge fan of the rock band.
Caplice wanted the entire fan community to see the great deed their favorite rocker has done, so he wrote an e-mail to the NIN Hotline, "I wanted the entire NIN community to see that their efforts have been recognized by all levels of government. I'm an 18-year fan of the band who has two parents with cancer, and have seen just how flawed the U.S. health care system is."
"I thought this was a really special moment for all of us who have seen the band and the community evolve over the years into a really positive and powerful force."
You can see pictures of the certificates and several pics of NIN posing with their proclamation on Caplice's Twitter account!
Many government forces from the big apple have also acknowledged Reznor's good doing such as, NY State Senator Craig M. Johnson, State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and Congressmen Tim Bishop and Gary Ackerman. All of these men have signed letters honoring Trent!
