amy2010Originally slated to debut this fall, Evanescence's third studio album will now be pushed back to an unknown release date according to The Pulse of Radio. Amy Lee has taken to the net to address the matter personally to all her fans.

"We've taken some time out of the studio to get our heads into the right creative space, work on the songs and even write some more music. We'll be back in the studio recording the album soon enough. I think that it can only be stronger for this extra time we're putting into it."

So what's really going on with the new album? Lee has bee hinting that Wind-Up Records, the band's label, has been having some problems of its own. "My record label has been going through some very uncertain times, as are many record labels, and that's made things a little unclear....we really want to make sure the whole machine is working together when it's time to put out the album."

Last spring, Amy discussed that this new release would be totally different from their usual sound and will "incorporate influences from dance-rock and electronic acts like Depeche Mode, MGMT and Portishead."

We can't wait to hear the new music and hope nothing but the best for Evanescence!

Evanescence Take On Electro Pop

ev2010 Evanescence is adding a different twist to their usual dark and gloomy goth rock style, and instead opting for a fresh electro-pop approach.

Amy Lee has dropped names of bands who have influenced her latest style, such as: Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Portishead, CSS, Bjork, La Roux and MGMT. "A lot of bands I've always been inspired by are just coming into play a little more. There's a lot of stuff that doesn't sound like Evanescence, but the heart of the band of still there. This is a really, really, rhythmically driven record. So there's tons of drum-programming fused with live drums."

Lee also sat down with Spin and discuss plans for the album and past drama surrounding Evanescence. "There's a lot of bullshit related to that band name for me, but I'm ready to move past it. I've realized that Evanescence is who I am." Battling through several line up changes and several other bad experiences, Lee is ready to move on to bigger and better things.

Spin starts off by asking why Evanescence is returning now after taking two whole years off. "For a long time I didn't know what I wanted to do. I really love scoring film and that was definitely where my head was. I took a few stabs at doing that, but then I started writing more songs. I had such a good time in the studio with Will Science Hunt recording 'Sally's Song' -- it was a cool, free, creative space. So we thought, 'Why don't we just try writing an original song?' He has a studio in Forth Worth, TX, and we spent two days down there writing and a new song came out that was so different -- it was dark and inspiring. It was a groove that I hadn't found in a long time. So we spent all of last year writing like crazy and somewhere halfway through I said, 'You know, I think we're writing an Evanescence album."

How did the hook up with studio extraordinare, Will "Science" Hunt, who also has the same name as a member in her band, come to be?  Well, part of getting back to Evanescence was the new Will Hunt. I met this Will -- I call him Will "Science" Hunt because he does a lot of programming and beats -- when we recorded 'Sally's Song' for Nightmare Revisited"

The front-woman also mentions the first new song the group started writing together and its title. " 'Hi-Lo. '  It's a working title. It's going in an electro-pop direction -- there are no organic instruments. It's a Portishead or Massive Attack direction, and lyrically it's about moving on, but in a very non-confrontational, non-angry way. It's just, 'Hey, everything that happened, I'm over it and I'm not mad at you.' "

Fans will definitley be suprised by the new Evanscence, but still can expect the signature feel and sound. "Well, it's definitely still heavy. Like The Open Door, the new songs are a rainbow of sounds. But this album spreads out even more. There are moments that are amazingly heavy, but then there are moments that are completely stripped down."

How did the goth rockers start working with Grammy winning producer, Steve Lillywhite? "We decided it would be good to have another brain in the room to provide some perspective, since we've been living with the demos for so long. Steve Lillywhite randomly called my record label said, 'Hey, what's Amy Lee and Evanescence doing? I'd really like to work with her.' I thought that was really interesting. I honestly wouldn't have thought of him if he hadn't called. So we went to lunch and I showed him some of the songs. He really loved them and wanted to do it!"

Lee also discusses the plans she had for a solo album back in 2008, whatever happened to that? "I was in a very different creative space then, before hooking up with Will Science. I wrote a couple of songs that are good, but in a totally different direction. Nothing from that period is making it to the new record."

Spin.com asked how the singer felt about her ex-members forming We Are The Fallen, Lee had no choice words for them. "I don't have any. It doesn't have anything to do with me or Evanescence."

In other good news, Evanescence's first single "Bring Me To Life" from their debut studio album, "Fallen" has been certified platinum selling 2 million units! A huge congratulations to them!

Before we go, here's a video to get you hyped up for the new album!

amylee2010 Amy Lee has confirmed that Evanescence returned to the studio on February 22nd to record their first follow up album since "The Open Door" in 2006 with Grammy winning producer, Steve Lillywhite.

The group's front-woman posted a new message to her fans on the band's official website. "I can't explain how excited I am to make this record. Over the past year and a half these songs have become the center of my life, and I can't wait to hear what they grow into in the studio. I think our sound is evolving into something that will surprise people, in a very good way. I feel, as always, that growth can bnne an incredible, limitless thing if you let it. I never want to make the same album twiced."

According to Artist Direct the expected release date should be between late August and early September. Evanescence.com has only stated that it will be sometime late this fall. These rockers however aren't letting their fans wait that long for new material! Their new single, "Together Again", is now available to download from any service. The song was initially suppose to be on the soundtrack to the first "Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", but had to be taken off the tracklisting by Disney because it was "too dark."

I'm dead excited to see what's in store for the next chapter in Evanescence's new era! Before we go, here's the new tune "Together Again". Enjoy!

Amy Lee Discusses New Album Ideas

The world of Evanescence has been quite busy lately since singer Amy Lee issued an update regarding their new material. The front-woman answered fan questions on the band's official website earlier this month. "I've been sitting here reading through so many of these questions and comments...trying to find one I haven't answered and want to...I guess I just want to say thanks for making me feel good. Ha. It's been really nice to know so many of you miss the music and want to know when you'll hear it again".

Lee also let a few secrets out about the group's new and fresh sound, but was careful not to spill all the beans. "I don't want to give away too much about what it will sound like, because so much will change before the end, but it's....not what you would expect. It's definitely not happy married music, but it's not like I'm dying the whole time either. It's dark, sarcastic, fun, strange, familiar and very different at the same time. It makes me feel alive and I wish I could show you right now. If you were here, at my house, I would pour you a drink and we would turn it up really loud and rock out to it, and I know you would love it."

In honoring some requests from fans about her gory lyrics, Amy says things will be different this time around! "Somebody asked why I talk about blood so much, complete with quite a few lyric quotes. It made me laugh. I promise to offer slightly less blood on the next album. Slightly."

To top it all off, we've seen the members of Evanescence come and go through the band's lifespan. Lee addresses this issue and says the stability of the band is better than it ever has been. "I often get asked about band members, the whole 'is it a band, is it a solo, etc.' (understandably! There have been quite a few). Everyone who has ever been a part of Evanescence is a part of its story, a part of its soul. From day 1 it has been a collaborative effort and different people have contributed over the years. But it is more than just changed and become more interesting, more soulful, more honest than a perfect image will allow. The passion is what makes it live on, the obsessive focus on straight up, head first, love for the music. That is my band. And against all obstacles, I'm sticking to it."

These rockers will be headlining one of the gigs at the Maquinaria festival in Sao Paulo, Brazil November 7th and 8th. They'll be sharing the bill will "Faith No More", "Jane's Addiction", Deftones and many more.

The Sequel To Evanescence?

fallen.pngHowdy ho homeskillets, how are you doing today?

So what do you get when you put three former Evanescence members and an American Idol reject together in a band? You get "We are the Fallen"! Sound a little familiar to you? It's a cheeky remark to the members' ex-band's debut album, "Fallen".

Former guitarists Ben Moody, John Lecompt and drummer Rocky Gray rock out with ex-American Idol hopeful Carly Smithson in an emerging goth-tastic band. They have uploaded new material on their website WearetheFallen.com, and although they seem to be pretty decent, a writer from the examiner has already branded them as an "Evanescence knock off".

Take a moment to check them out for yourself. Are these guys just another rip off, or the real deal? The Fallen are already planning to hit the road sometime in the fall.

On the other side of things, last month Amy Lee posted a message to all the fans on Evanescence's official website. "There's some pretty weird stuff flying around right now and I'd like to clear up some confusion in the press. As our fans already know, Ben Moody left Evanescence in 2003. Evanescence came out with a follow-up to 'Fallen'  in 2006. It was called 'The Open Door' and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month. 'The Open Door' has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. We're currently working on new material that I'm extremely excited about. I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don't see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, for the fans too. Look out for new music next year... "

How awesome is that? As a huge fan, I'm super stoked for their next chapter in the Evanescence saga. We know it'll be crazy good! If you can't wait, quench your thirst with some of their past material here.

Have a great rockin' weekend Nimrods!
