Good afternoon Nimrods, I'm here listening to a great new band and thought I'd share them with you.
Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, Darling Parade formed over three years ago when lead guitarist, Adam Gooch met Kristin Kearns at a show he played in Illinois with his previous band. Nate Thurston and drummer, Casey Conrad from Gooch's former band all joined forces together to form Darling Parade!
Combining their different tastes in music, Gooch can best describe their sound as "fun powerpop with lots of vocal and guitar melody." On his behalf, his musical influences range from rockin' to very mellodic: "Anberlin, The Cure, Boys Like Girls, Katy Perry, Lifehouse and Foo Fighters. Just to name a few."
What first attracted me to Darling Parade was front-woman Kristen's amazing powerhouse vocals. Prior to Darling Parade she had been in other bands and did some acoustic projects, live and in the studio. When listening to her favorite artists, she focuses her attention on the lyrics, something that Adam really admires in her. "Being a guitar player I always listen to music that is going to push me melodically speaking. Kristin brings a little more to the table than myself because she really cares about what a song is saying and how those words are moving someone emotionally. Pop music can sometimes be fun but not really be talking about much and Kristin seems to bring out lyrical meaning in the music that we create." This is especially true with the song "Never Fall Down', which I found very meaningful and easy to relate to. I also like the unique sounding "Bells Are Ringing". Great lyrics along with amazing music makes for something that is seriously lacking in today's music scene!
Upon completing their self-titled, debut album in October 2009, their song "Far Away" was snagged by SyFy to be used in a "Stargate : Universe" trailer. Starting in January of this year, they put together 10 more tracks solidifying their new direction and a strong sense of staying power! Their album is now available on iTunes and on Amazon.com.
As for what's the next thing DP hopes to accomplish, Adam says they're itching to get out and tour! "We are so ready to be out on the road right now. We just finished our new songs that we still have yet to release. This summer should be getting very interesting for us. For now that is all I can say."
We wil be keeping you up to date on their Going Ons, so get ready to hop on and strap in because the Darling Parade is coming through!
