Evanescence Rocks Out House of Blues With Awesome Set

Amy Lee

I haven’t seen Evanescence in four years since releasing their last self-titled album, so I was ecstatic to see them again performing at the House of Blues Orlando. As you know, the band have undergone some changes adding a new member after guitarist Terry Balsamo departed and since replaced by Jen Majura. I tell you all right now: she did not disappoint. Keep reading to find out all the juicy details from last night!

We’ll start with hard rock band Traverser who actually told the audience that Orlando was their hometown. I really liked the funny banter between songs and speaking of songs, they jammed on an instrumental track that I happened to really enjoy. Another highlight came when they said they acknowledged the overwhelming support from the Evanescence fandom. I thought that was pretty cool!

Now for the main event!

The Arkansas natives tore right into their set with the track from their last record called “What You Want” and also went into some past material, such as: “Going Under”, “My Immortal” and others. One thing  that made this show stand out is the acoustic renditions of “Going to California” by Led Zeppelin - which vocalist Amy Lee includes in her recent solo EP “Recover Vol. 1” out now. Additionally, she also sang her own song “My Immortal”, a track off Evanescence’s debut “Fallen”.

After a brief pause, all five members came back on stage for an encore of three songs. They even sang Purple Rain as an homage to the late Prince, who has recently passed on. Also, Amy lee sat on her piano to play “Even in Death” - a tune off 2000 demo “Origin”- for a short while, then the whole band rocked on together on “Erase This” for the closing number.

It was a fantastic show and I can only hope that Evanescence comes back with new music to rock us out again relatively soon. Even though we did take videos to post on our You Tube, you can certainly check out several clips on Instagram (@Nimrod_Street).
