Hank Green will soon be known as more than just 'that science guy', because he'll be publishing his debut novel in 2018, titled "An Absolutely Remarkable Thing". As you may already know, he and John are the stars of VlogBrothers on YouTube where they discuss everything under the sun, including books.
Originally intending as a graphic novel, the Internet sensation opted for a full-length book when the flood of ideas overflowed. By combining mystery with sci-fi, Green knew he hit the jackpot for a banging debut. “In a lot of ways it comes from a lot of my personal experience with how success feels,” he said. “There’s the very weird feeling of being bigger in people’s heads than you feel you are.”
"A Very Remarkable Thing" is inspired by a dream Green had one night, which surprisingly translated well onto the page. The story is about "An art student in New York City named April May, who finds herself at the center of a vast international mystery. One day, April stumbles on a giant robot sculpture in Midtown Manhattan, and makes a video with the figure, which goes viral. She becomes famous as news spreads that similar sculptures have mysteriously appeared in dozens of cities, and people around the world struggle to understand where the figures came from and what they mean."
Acquired by Dutton and Penguin Random House, Green has locked a two-book deal and says his work is intended for adults who don't mind the vulgar language and themes. His brother John also publishes under Dutton and Penguin, however, his work is mostly aimed towards young adults. Speaking of John, he'll be releasing his next book "Turtles All The Way Down" on October 10th, 2017.
