U2 Plan "Club Sounding" Album
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Thu, 08/19/2010 - 10:46pm
U2 tells Rolling Stone magazine that their upcoming album will take a different approach and be more "club-sounding". Along with this this, these Irish rockers will not only release a rock album however, they will also release "Songs of Ascent" which includes "tunes from the recording session of their latest disc" "No Line On the Horizon".
Bono hopes that the new music will be out "by the time the band return to make up the canceled North American dates next spring." This was due to Bono's emergency back surgery last May, "There are a lot bigger problems out there than the ones I was facing. ... But I came out of it perfect. And I feel incredibly grateful."
He and The Edge will also score the music for the upcoming Spider-Man musical, which has no tentative debut date as of yet.
Look for the September issue of RS this Friday!
Jamiroquai Announce Comeback
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Tue, 08/17/2010 - 10:55pm
Jazz funk band, Jamiroquai, have recently announced their comeback album "Rock, Dust, Light, Star" slated to be on store shelves November 1st. This will be the band's first studio album in five years since 2005's "Dynamite" and it was all recorded in frontman, Jay Kay's home recording studio in Buckinghamshire with new labelmates, Mercury Records.
If you've never been to a Jamiroquai show, you'll be in for a treat since the band describes the new sound as "live", trying out a different approach "focusing on instruments rather than the electronic feel they are known for." Jamiroquai posted a message on their official website for all the fans.
"We think at a time when many acts are producing electronic, disco-influenced tracks, with Rock, Dust, Light, Star Jamiroquai has moved on and reverted to a more organic, live sound. The shift really helped revitalise the band who ended up producing a superb album - even if we do say it ourselves! We hope you all agree as you get to hear it", Jay Kay added on, "Everything on the record is live. It's a real band record. The last, album - fantastic - but the whole thing became a little sterile. This time we've captured the flow of our live performances."
The song, "White Knuckle Ride" will only be sold as a limited edition vinyl, while trailer single, "Blue Skies", is due in November. Fans have gotten a special treat of hearing the title track after Kay performed it earlier this year.
Before we go, we'll leave you Nimrods with a little teaser for the new record!
Live Band Of The Month: You, Me, and Everyone We Know
Submitted by TotalBasketCase13 on Sun, 08/15/2010 - 8:19pm
Occasionally, a band comes along that nearly everyone agrees is awesome. East coast rockers "You, Me, and Everyone We Know" are one of those bands. Formed sometime in 2006, and having gone through quite a few member changes, the current YMAEWK lineup consists of Ben Liebsch (vocals), Rico Vigil (guitar/keyboard/vocals/percussion), Augustine Rampolla (guitar/vocals), Kyle Gibson (drums), and Mike Ghazarian (bass). The band released their debut EP "Party For The Grown and Sexy" independently that same year. This release was met with a ton of praise from music fans, critics, and bloggers alike. After finding some management, You, Me, and Everyone We Know hit the road with acts such as I Am the Avalanche, Four Year Strong, Piebald, and Phantom Planet.
Still touring relentlessly, the band released their second EP entitled "So Young, So Insane" in the fall of 2008. This much anticipated record greatly pleased fans, and even featured guest vocals by Max Bemis (whom vocalist Ben Liebsch has been compared to time and again) on the track "I Can Get Back Up Now". The band continued to tour in support of their new record with such bands as Forgive Durden, Anarbor, and even a handful of tours with last month's Live Band of the Month Take Cover. In late winter/early spring 2010, the band embarked on a headlining tour called "The Avatour" with bands Stay, Breathe Electric, and We Are The In Crowd.
After being an independent band for nearly four years, YMAEWK have some big things in store for them. Just a short time ago they announced they had signed to Doghouse Records, and that their first full length album would be called Some Things Just Don't Wash Out. Two singles that have been released so far, "Bootstraps" and "Some Things Just Don't Wash Out" and have received a lot of love and have put this album on many's "most anticipated for 2010" lists. The full length record is scheduled for release September 28th.
I first caught YMAEWK in October of 2008 when they were one of the opening acts on "The Big Sneeze Tour" (w/ Sing It Loud). Having heard of the band only months prior, I didn't really know what to expect from their live show. To put it simply, they amazed me. Vocalist Ben Liebsch puts so much passion behind his words onstage that it makes you want to throw up your hands, thrash around, and sing them back to him at the top of your lungs. This band has a certain magnetism you can't help but love. Their set was fairly short, probably only 20 minutes or so, and I found myself wanting more. As of now I've only gotten the chance to see them three times, but I get to add one more show to my list at the end of this month when I catch them opening for another of my favorite acts, The Bigger Lights.
Another great thing about YMAEWK is their friendliness and approachability. All of them love meeting fans and having good conversations. They are all extremely humble, and I expect nothing but good things for them in the future and wish them tons of success.
Favorite Song(s):
-Livin' th' Dream.
-Happy Birthday.

Upcoming Tour:
August 16th - 29th w/ The Bigger Lights, The Graduate, and Weatherstar.

Goo Goo Dolls Officially Release New Album
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Sat, 07/31/2010 - 11:55pm
Last September we told you about New York trio, Goo Goo Dolls, releasing their next album, "Something for the Rest of Us" in February according to Buffalo News. Now it will officially be out in stores as soon as August 31st!
The Dolls recorded their music in guitarist, Johnny Rzenick and bassist Robby Takac's new privately owned recording studio. This will be the band's best album yet and Takac discusses creating the follow up to "Let Love In" in a changing music environment. "The entire music industry has changed pretty radically since we released 'Let Love In' in 2006. I mean, things were bad then, in so many ways, and they're worse now. The tradition routes for promoting a record and getting your music heard-radio, principally-aren't there in the way they were before. So we're facing some real challenges this time around."
When you pre-order the album through the guy's website, GooGooDolls.com, you'll be able get your hands around a nifty exclusive bundle which includes such goodies as: "CD featuring 12 NEW studio tracks including the smash single 'Home' contained in an exclusive book-style digipak with 24 pages of full color art, band photos, and lyrics. An MP3 instant download of 'Home' plus 3 bonus tracks of never-before-released covers delivered to you digitally on release date including: Postcards From Paradise (Flesh for Lulu), Rough Boys (Pete Townshend), & as an exclusive to pre-orders only, Catch Me Now I'm Falling (The Kinks) 9 3/4" x 6 1/2" exclusive lithograph - a limited amount will be AUTOGRAPHED by the band!"
American fans "must pre-order by August 21st to receive your bundle on or around release date!" You don't want to miss it!
Taylor Swift Releases New Album October 25th
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Wed, 07/28/2010 - 8:16pm
It's not even the end of summer yet and already there's word of autumn album releases! Taylor Swift will release her latest track list, "Speak Now", on October 25th with the first single, "Mine", out August 16th.
Swift's third studio record will have a more personal touch with all 14 songs penned and co-produced by her. She worked with Nathan Chapman, who she frequently collaborates with, recording “60% of the album in his basement.” The music will have a more scathing approach to her past relationships one song at a time. “Track by track, each song is a different confession to a different person,”
Unlike the usual Tuesday release date, "Speak Now" will be out in stores on a Monday so it can be out at the same time globally. This will be the follow up to multi-platinum selling "Fearless" two years ago as Taylor says she likes to give herself some time to breathe before jumping into another project. “I write everything that I live so you have to give yourself a little bit of time so you can live a lot of things,”
