Lacuna Coil Bring Their Dark Legacy To Hard Rock Live

lacunaconcert2012The day had finally arrived where I would get to see one of my top favorite bands rocking out in front of me. Italian Gothic metal band Lacuna Coil brought their Dark Legacy Tour to the Hard Rock Live on May 6 celebrating 15 years together as a band co-headlining with legendary metal quartet, Megadeth.

Dedicated fans battled the outrageous Florida weather consisting of heavy rain and the possibility of small hale. However, it was all worth it the second everyone got inside the venue. Instantly, the energy could be felt before we made way to our seats.

Kicking off the show earlier than expected Lacuna Coil rocked a new song off their current album, "Dark Adrenaline", called "I Don't Believe In Tomorrow". They also delve into material from previous albums, "Karmacode", "Shallow Life", and my personal favorite, "Comalies".

Afterwards it was Megadeth's turn to rock the house! It was obvious to everyone in the room, regardless of their age, that these guys still owned the awesome genre of heavy metal! Additionally, a WJRR 101.1 contest winner received a Flying V guitar from lead singer Dave Mustaine which just moments before had been used in a previous song.

As a special treat to the already zany crowd vocalist Cristina Scabbia came out on stage to duet with Mustaine on "A Tout Le Monde". I have to say this was a major highlight of the evening.

Lacuna Coil's set-list is as follows:

  • "I Don't Believe In Tomorrow"
  • "I Won't Tell You"
  • "Kill The Light"
  • "Upsidedown"
  • "Swamped"
  • "Fragile"
  • "Give Me Something More"
  • "Our Truth"
  • "Spellbound"
  • "Trip The Darkness"

Overall this was one tour I'm glad I didn't miss out on as Lacuna Coil are one of the few original and talented artists in music today. We recommend you experience it for yourself whenever the opportunity arises. Follow Cristina Scabbia (@MissScabbia), Lacuna Coil (@Lacuna_Coil) and Megadeth (@Megadeth) on Twitter.

Capturing footage of the show to share with our Nimrods was another plus, at least in our opinion. Expect to see videos on our You Tube channel by clicking on this playlist link.

Paramore Work On New Album

paramore2011_0On Wednesday Hayley Williams gave fans an updated on the status of where Paramore are in terms of their fourth upcoming album since "Brand New Eyes".

Williams wrote quite a lengthy post she which she describes how fast time flies, "I've never known what it's like to be home for more than a few weeks at a time that absolutely nothing is going on. The only thing I could think about was if we could snap our fingers and make the 4th album happen so that the next time I looked up, we'd be back on a stage somewhere and not sitting around at home. But you can't just make things like that happen. For something to be great, there has to be some kind of trial or some type of struggle that actually makes it special or valuable to you. Otherwise, anything could be easily taken for granted."

So far the band has finished one song for the new album being produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen, a former member of Beck, called "Daydreaming".

The singer goes on to confess how the writing process has been a labor of love rather than just good times, "There's no reason to lie about it, the first few months of writing were ridiculously draining and a lot more of a pain than a pleasure. It was supposed to be fun right? We made it all the way to this point to just struggle some more. So, you can probably imagine that when the flood gates burst this past January and inspiration started filling us up again, we were more than willing to let it take us wherever it wanted. We've written a lot of songs I never thought we would write. And we aren't done yet! The writing will continue even as we enter the studio."

Bassist Jeremy Davis and guitarist Taylor York have begun to record last week but are unsure if they'll be using it as a final product however excited they may be, "At the end of our time in the studio, it was clear to us that this was definitely right! At the end of our time in the studio, it was clear to us that this was definitely right!" she wrote. "In case you can't tell, we're working on a pretty strange schedule, by our standards. There has never been so much time and care put into a Paramore album. Usually, we are rushing to make a very strict deadline, which so far has just not been right for this record. We cannot assure you it will be out this year. What we can tell you is that from now on, when we go in to create this thing, whether for a day at a time or for a month, you will be kept more informed. It is a total joy to make our fans/family a part of what we do because we couldn't do it without you anyway."
