Hey there everyone, what's going on? Hope you're all doing super dooper!
We've got some nifty updates on the always rockin' Blink 182 clan including news on their upcoming album, how to score free tickets, and that mysterious green screen video that was top secret.
Gibson.com listed Blink as one of the top five releases they can't wait for, it also goes into a brief list about the events over the past year. After you're all caught up, you'll see minor details about their sixth studio record.
Guitarist, Tom Delonge, has described the new Blink tune as a mix of Boxcar Racer, Angels & Airwaves, but still keeping that lovable Blink 182 sound.
There are no official release dates as of yet, however 2010 seems like a reasonable bet! We'll hopefully be able to see the first new awesome tracks since the band dropped their self-titled disc in 2003!!
You all want some tour info? USAToday.com has posted an article on how you can snag some free tickets to the group's reunion tour this summer. It does come with a price, and we're not talking about how much they are on Ticketmaster.com either.
Even though any trace of free passes have been snagged by Virgin Mobile's FreeFest, the party doesn't just stop there. Promoters for the August 30th music festival in Merriweather Post Pavillion, have gathered 3,000 tickets for fans of the band willing to help out with volunteer work for homeless youth.
So here are three options for you to score guaranteed entrance to the hottest event of the summer!
- Extending your generous hand at thirteen hours of service at certain organizations will give you awesome VIP passes.
- For eight hours of volunteering, you'll be up close with super cool general admission.
- If you already have your tickets, all it takes is donating five bucks to seal the deal.
Ron Faris from Virgin Mobile USA assures you that you're doing a world of good by helping out, "social giving is at an all-time low. There are 2 million young people out there ages 12 to 24 who are homeless. So we're willing to eat the cost of a $100 ticket, if people can just donate $5 to help homeless youth organizations that have been decimated by this economy."
One of the rare festivals can be attended absolutely free, and will be headlined by Weezer, Blink 182, Franz Ferdinand, and Public Enemy. Of course anything that's free is freaking awesome right?
"Free gets more publicity for Virgin and the bands. From the band's perspective, Merriweather is a great place to play, the fans are appreciative of the free tickets, and that goodwill will transfer to the bands' performances. And the charity component should be commended. Virgin didn't have to add that."
But can we look forward to more free shows anytime soon? Bongiovanni says you better jump on this deal quick, "this kind of gesture isn't going to be replicated anytime soon. After all, not many people can write a check that big except for Sir Richard Branson."
In other Blink related news, remember back in April we told you about how bassist, Mark Hoppus discussed this mysterious green screen music video they were shooting? If you've been following him on Twitter, you'll see he finally let the cat out of the bag on what exactly the trio were up to.
Doritos presents an amazing virtual experience with Blink 182 and Big Boi. Purchase a special-edition bag of Doritos Late Night chips starting July 6th, this will also be the ticket into a sold out late night gig.
Check out this link to be part of this event!
Be sure to enter your email address to the right to get tip top updates on Blink hitting the stage!
If you're a major Blink fan, I suggest you jump on this right away!
Here's a video of the guys in action!

Howdy ho peeps! How's it going with you all so far? Hoping the summer is treating you well!
Guess who's on the cover of EQ Magazine for the month of July? Yes indeed, it is none other than Green Day! Check it out here!
Also, the band answered fan questions for the recent issue of Kerrang. That hit stores on June 24th, 2009, so be sure to pick it up!
There may be some more controversy following these punk rockin' trio. The Sydney council in Australia is a bit pissed off due to the graffiti on public property advertising their latest album, "21st Century Breakdown".
Not only are they losing their cool, but the city also wants to question the Green triplets record company, Warner Music Group about whether or not they had any permission to use graffiti as a way to promote the record.
Some critics say that the designs which appear across skate parks, and inner-city suburbs such as: Newtown and Surry Hills, serve a purpose because it showcases cover art for an album.
A spokesman for the city said the doodles are still being looked at, "murals and public artworks require development approval including consent from the property owner. The council is investigating the graffiti. Graffiti on building hoardings is required to be removed by the developer. The council's general approached is to remove graffiti quickly and consistently to help maintain the appearance of our city while discouraging repeat incidents."
WMG has stated that they paid the independent company in Surry Hills, Mr Perso & Detch, for the graffiti campaign. To make matters worse, local artists have done some vandalism of their own by spray painting "cash cow", followed by money signs, on top of the displayed artwork.
Warner has also said that they thought the campaign in Melbourne and Sydney was solidified because of the done deal with Mr Perso & Detch, "they are a legal spray-painting, a legal graffiti company, so they have designated spots," said vice-president of marketing and promotions at WMG, Mark Ashbridge. They were also asked if a sum of money was given to the council, or whether an application had to be done for a thumbs up, he simply said, "I don't know."
Adding onto this, "as a record company and a marketer, we contracted the company and we're thinking that basically they've got the rights to do that. We didn't really check in terms of whether or not the company had the approval, we would assume such, considering they are a viable company that we're using for a marketing campaign."
Ashbridge says that the deal included six sites all across Sydney, "there were six mega-sites-two in Newtown, one in Drummoyne, one in Bondi, one in Paddo and one in Surry Hills. And then there were standard sites-a third one in Newtown, another one in Bondi and another one in Surry Hills. We did 80 spray stencils around Sydney's skate parks. It was a more interesting way of making something a bit more arty."
On top of it all, no staff at Mr Perso & Detch could be reached for further comment! Read all about these shenanigans at stuff.co.nz!
Moving onto better news, Green Day are nominated for three Teen Choice Awards, and will take place August 10th at the Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles, California. Make sure to vote often, show everyone we are the best fans on earth!
As you may have noticed already, the video for the new single, "21 Guns" premiered on the guys official Myspace this past Sunday. Just in case you couldn't tune in, here it is for your enjoyment!

Hey there everyone rise and shine! Hope you're ready for another fun day here at Nimrod Street!
While Green Day were doing interviews for their recent Rolling Stone cover, Billie Joe Armstrong discussed details about the theatrical "American Idiot" musical, and the shock he felt hearing other people singing his songs.
The week after, the director of the play, Michale Mayer, spoke to RS about how the trio influenced his previous musical, Spring Awakening, and other cool stuff!
On the first page of the article, Armstrong is asked when did the idea for the musical first come to be:
" 'American Idiot' is a punk opera. But I was very self-conscious about it. I didn't want it to come across as pretentious. Someone said, 'what is the influence' I said, 'this record has more in common with Rocky Horror than Leonard Cohen.
The idea was, 'wouldn't it be great to make a film out of it?' Then the film idea fell through the cracks, which was a bummer. The enthusiasm got lost. Then the guy from Spring Awakening, Michael Mayer-he was doing an interview. Someone asked him what he wanted to do next, and he said he'd love to do the musical of "American Idiot". One of the kids from the fan sites put that up. And a year and a half later, lo and behold, we get a call from him."
He was also asked what he thought of Spring Awakening when he first saw it:
"I was floored. It was so uncharacteristic of what I thought theater was suppose to be. I had no idea what to expect and how unconventional Michael was, in the way he directed this old German play from the turn of the century.
When I saw the show, I kept thinking that a couple of songs- 'Totally Fucked' and 'The Bitch of Living'- sounded a lot like Green Day hits. They had that sound and emotional resonance.
'Totally Fucked'- I remember seeing that and going, 'Did I write that?' It reminds me of 'St. Jimmy'. You forget how talented these people are, these theater kids. They are completely, mind and body, involved in the theater, just as much as I lived punk rock. They embody the whole thing. Then I went to a workshop, and I couldn't fucking believe it. It's incredible- all those voices singing your songs at you."
On the second page, Mayer talks about how the trio influenced Spring Awakening, especially the song, 'Totally Fucked':
"It was the effect I wanted. I was listening to "American Idiot" a lot when we were putting the final chunk of Spring Awakening together. I was literally like, 'Guys, listen to this groove. Listen to that fat guitar lick. Why can't we have this under here?"
Why was "Idiot" the record of choice instead of a classic punk album? Like, let's say "London Calling" by the Clash?
" 'American Idiot' felt so complete to me. The version we will end up performing will have other songs in it- two B sides from the European release and four from the new album. But 'American Idiot' has a huge emotional arc. There was an amazing narrative that was, at times, perplexing and ambiguous, but also so full of possibilities with a multitude of voices. Some of the songs- I heard them as dialogue. Our biggest challenge at the moment is the central secion. The 'St. Jimmy'/ 'Jesus of Suburbia' maxtrix is a complicated thing. That is what we're still grappling with. Every song on the album will be played in sequence. But the sequences will be interrupted by other songs and text."
One particular question that stands out is whether or not Armstrong is protective of his own original material:
"I am basically doing the libretto. Billie was very much a part of it. I kept calling him and e-mailing him every different version of my scenario. But the libretto is basically akin to the libretto of Tommy- there is no dialogue per se. I am inventing the way in which these songs function as dialogue- as narrative, as emotional maps.
Could the punk rock genius himself eventually ever compose for the theater?
"When we were together the other night, he did say, 'the next thing, after this, I want to write some thing completely new for you to direct.'
If you've got the gift, who knows where it comes from and why. The great thing is to keep feeding it and take care of it. What is so remarkable to me is to watch him allow that gift to grow and to be unfettered by constraints that people want to put around it. At a certain point, songwriting is more important than image and labels."
In other news, you may already know about Green Day bassist, Mike Dirnt's designer shoes. But did you know they were animal-friendly? Yes indeed, the Dirnt has collaborated with vegan shoe manufacturing company, Macbeth. It smacks of elegance with brass lace loops.
Also available in high-top style, you can now purchase it from Journeys.com starting at $79.99! Mike has been nominated several times for PETA2's 'Sexiest Vegetarian' award despite not being vegan or even a veg!
You can read the article from NME here!
The guys have a ton of brand new photos up on their site's photo gallery. The pics are taken by photographer, Ross Halfin. Check 'em out!!
I bet what you really want to hear about is the new video for "21 Guns" right? The video will debut on the guys official Myspace Sunday, June 21st. If you can't wait, here's a sneak peak into the making of!

Hello peeps, what's the haps? Hoping ya'll are doing excellent!
Hey there Twilight freaks, got some groovy news for you all! A fan asked The Oracle on Coldplay's official QandA website if the rumor about the song, "The Scientist", appearing on the soundtrack to "New Moon" was indeed true.
The writer's question was answered as, "it's very likely that a Coldplay song will end up on the soundtrack to the Twilight sequel given that Stephanie Meyer has credited Coldplay, amongst others, on the inner sleeve for 'being instrumental in starving off the writer's block. ' " The quartet's Oracle hasn't directly set in stone the band confirming it as the song of choice.
Although, it may not be a bad move considering the film's first soundtrack is quite a top ten best seller. Featuring rockin' acts such as: Paramore, Linkin Park, Muse and many more.
Not familiar with Twilight? It's a best selling book series from author, Stephanie Meyer. It is mainly about a girl named Bella that falls in love with a vampire named, Edward. It's a modern day forbidden love story! Check out the stats for its last opening week, it racked up a whopping $70.5 million. I only expect the sequel to do even better.
Just to give you all a bit of a tease, watch the brand spankin' official trailer for "New Moon" below. The film opens everywhere November 20th, 2009!

Hola peeps, what's going on today?
"Weird" Al Yankovic just posted a blog on his Myspace about his new upcoming single "Craigslist". This will be the first of four brand new songs that will be available starting this Tuesday, June 16th digitally on iTunes and all the usual places you use to purchase music.
Along with the fresh new tune comes an awesome video to compliment the Tuesday release. It was shot by Yankovic's good friend, Liam Lynch, who also directed "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny", and "Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic". He's also the genius inside those Lynchland podcasts!
This will be Al's first live action video since "White and Nerdy", but he warns to keep your expectations to a minimum! While "Nerdy" had quite a substantial budget, "Craigslist" will hardly have one to speak of. No Joke! The vid was shot in Lynch's very own garage, but don't get all worked up, because its "low budget" works out just fine with the video's concept according to Al.I'm sure that It'll work out just peachy!
Luckily, you don't have to wait until Tuesday to see this wacky video because AOL will be premiering on Monday June 15th. So stay tuned for all the details!
Guess what else is going on Tuesday? Weird Al will be doing a live Twitter and Ustream event on top of everything else! This California native will be answering fan's questions from 8pm to 9pm Eastern, 5pm to 6pm Pacific! More information to come about this very soon!
With all this talk of "Weird" Al events, ever want to know what it's really like inside his brain? Get inside Al's head as you watch the promo below for AlsBrain.com! (Psst, AlsBrain.com is a promo for Al's Brain The Movie... Check it out!)
