Taylor Swift Releases New Album October 25th
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Wed, 07/28/2010 - 8:16pm
It's not even the end of summer yet and already there's word of autumn album releases! Taylor Swift will release her latest track list, "Speak Now", on October 25th with the first single, "Mine", out August 16th.
Swift's third studio record will have a more personal touch with all 14 songs penned and co-produced by her. She worked with Nathan Chapman, who she frequently collaborates with, recording “60% of the album in his basement.” The music will have a more scathing approach to her past relationships one song at a time. “Track by track, each song is a different confession to a different person,”
Unlike the usual Tuesday release date, "Speak Now" will be out in stores on a Monday so it can be out at the same time globally. This will be the follow up to multi-platinum selling "Fearless" two years ago as Taylor says she likes to give herself some time to breathe before jumping into another project. “I write everything that I live so you have to give yourself a little bit of time so you can live a lot of things,”

New Radiohead Maybe Coming This Year?
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Fri, 07/23/2010 - 12:59am
Last year we told you about Radiohead working on their eighth album and the follow up to 2007's "In Rainbows". Since then there hasn't been a confirmed release date announced, but that could change sometime this year.
Entertainment Weekly recently sat down with the band's drummer, Philip Selway, to discuss what's going on with their latest creation. “It’s not finished yet, it’s still ongoing. We like where we are so far.”
Selway also added that the band's shenanigans in the studio have been “very productive, very creative sessions. You don’t want to start summing them up, though, until you’ve actually finished. I think that’s when you get the real hindsight on it, and the real flavor of actually what went on.”
Also, what about that confirmed 2010 deadline their guitarist mentioned last month? “Oh, I don’t know. We keep on hitting those points where you think, ‘We’re there.’ And then [later] you think, ‘No, it’s not.’ We’re having a break from it at the moment. I’ll be [promoting Familial], and then we’ll come back to it later in the summer and see where we are.”
If anything, while Radiohead's album may not be released this year, you'll still want to check out Selway's solo album "Familiar" which is released on August 31st!
Rock Out With Disturbed's New Single!

Metal heads Disturbed return with a new album, "Asylum", due out August 31st and its title track will be the new single.
The mid-tempo tune is a love song complete with guitar riffs, heavy drums and plenty of growling from David Draiman belting out deep lyrics, “Don’t you know I’m in love you? How can I feel this empty? this loneliness is killing me.”
This album takes after their successful 2008 release "Indestructible", "which was the band’s third consecutive album to top the Billboard 200."
Look for Disturbed touring this summer at Rockstar Uproar with acts like Avenged Sevenfold.
Before we leave, enjoy Disturbed explaining the meaning behind "Asylum" below!
UPDATE 07-22-2010: Disturbed's twitter, @DisturbedTheGuy, is reminding everyone that they can pre-order their copy of "Asylum" here or you can find it on Amazon.com!
Live Band Of The Month: Take Cover
Submitted by TotalBasketCase13 on Wed, 07/14/2010 - 10:23pm
This month's band are one of my very favorites of all-time, even though they have only been around a very short while. Take Cover formed in early 2008 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band is comprised of Ryan Wickard (lead vocals), Odin Holmes (vocals/guitar), Chad Snell (bass), Derek Johnson (drums), and Brady Trudeau (guitar/vocals).
In September of 2008, the band released the Take Cover EP independently and by the release of their second EP titled The Last Word the band had gained a pretty substantial fanbase. Recently, they released a third EP entitled Waiting In The Moment which included acoustic renditions of 3 fan-favorite tracks, as well as 2 brand new songs (also acoustic).
Take Cover have toured relentlessly since their inception. Sharing the stage with such acts as fellow Minnesota natives Sing It Loud, Jamestown Story, and All The Right Moves, they have also opened shows for Quietdrive, The Higher, You Me And Everyone We Know, and Four Letter Lie. They have done all of this and more all remaining the while independent and with no current plans to sign in the near future.
Though I'd heard of them about a year before, I didn't really take much notice of Take Cover until I saw them live opening at a fairly small show in Des Moines for the band You Me And Everyone We Know in June of 2009. Through some friends' testimonies before the show about the band, I began to grow very excited. They took the stage and I was pretty much blown away. Not only do they play with energy and smiles on their faces, but vocalist Ryan Wickard is exactly what I've come to expect in a good frontman.
Through near flawless playing and singing, I left the show with the feeling that not only was this band sure to become a favorite, but I know that one day they will be successful. Immediately when I got home I bought their EPs on iTunes and have yet to grow tired of them. I've seen the band a few times since, and each time just reminds me of how, not good, but great they are; both as musicians, and people. In a world where a great band is getting harder and harder to find, I beg everyone to check these guys out. Guarantee it won't be a regret.
Favorite Song(s):

Muse Plan New Album
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Tue, 07/13/2010 - 11:34pm
Bass player for Muse, Chris Wolstenholme, has confirmed that the band will start work on their sixth studio album next year according to NME.com. He admitted that they will take some much needed time off after this tour, which will end in Perth, Australia on December 19th.
"we'll definitely start working on a new album next year." He explained that a break would be necessary however, saying "it's something we've never done. I think the most time we've had off is about six weeks in the last 12 years, so we're due a break."
Wolstenholme sat down for an interview at their T In The Park gig "that saw the group further cement their position as one of the biggest bands in the world. With America it was something we never really expected to happen. So I think it was one of those things we really appreciated, hopefully it'll carry on."
Muse will conclude "the year with a three month stint that takes in both the USA and Australia."
Current upcoming shows for these Musers include:
- Fuji Rock in Japan on July 30,
- Sziget in Hungary on August 15th
- Two dates at Wembley Stadium on September 10-11
Below is the NME interview with Chris spilling the beans about the new album!
Michelle Branch To Release EP
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Mon, 07/12/2010 - 9:48pm
Michelle Branch's website has confirmed a six track version of her third studio album, "Everything Comes And Goes", the release will be available sometime in the coming weeks both digitally and physically. This EP will coincide with her North American tour with Sugarland.
Copies sold at concerts have made their way onto eBay for up to $30 and Branch has been tweeting (@MichelleBranch) urgently to her fans not to pay ridiculous prices for it. "Please people, DO NOT buy my EP on Ebay! There will be physical copies as well as digital for sale any moment!! I'd give you all the release date but WB won't tell me! No-one ever tells me anything." She then added "P.S. Don't get me wrong, I have friends at WB who I love and have nothing to do with this."
Branch's album has been pushed back due to financial strains with her label, Warner Brothers. She recently told Modbee about how the songs may not be so new for her anymore but still are for her fans. "For me, the songs get old. I have to keep reminding myself that music fans have not heard it."
This will be Michelle's first follow up to "Hotel Paper" which was released seven years ago.
Evanescence Delay Their Album Release
Submitted by NimrodOnElmStreet on Fri, 07/09/2010 - 8:18pm
Originally slated to debut this fall, Evanescence's third studio album will now be pushed back to an unknown release date according to The Pulse of Radio. Amy Lee has taken to the net to address the matter personally to all her fans.
"We've taken some time out of the studio to get our heads into the right creative space, work on the songs and even write some more music. We'll be back in the studio recording the album soon enough. I think that it can only be stronger for this extra time we're putting into it."
So what's really going on with the new album? Lee has bee hinting that Wind-Up Records, the band's label, has been having some problems of its own. "My record label has been going through some very uncertain times, as are many record labels, and that's made things a little unclear....we really want to make sure the whole machine is working together when it's time to put out the album."
Last spring, Amy discussed that this new release would be totally different from their usual sound and will "incorporate influences from dance-rock and electronic acts like Depeche Mode, MGMT and Portishead."
We can't wait to hear the new music and hope nothing but the best for Evanescence!

In This Moment has set a release date for their next album "A Star Crossed Wasteland" on July 13 and is a follow up to 2008's "The Dream", which sold over 8,000 copies in the US during its first week.
The album was recorded in Las Vegas, Nevada with Kevin Churko who has produced for some well known acts like Ozzy Osbourne and Five Finger Death Punch.
Along with a new record on hand, they've also confirmed a spot on this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival tour kicking off July 10th in San Bernadino, California. Also set to appear are Atreyu, Norma Jean and 3 Inches OF Blood.
I am a huge fan of these guys and I really can't wait to see what they have in store this time around!
